‘Sister Wives’: Kody Brown’s Gross Reveal in Public Turns Fans Away

Sister Wives star Kody Brown signed up to share his lifestyle on TV, although some folks say he went too far as he revealed some awful things. Kody talks about an equation when it comes to love, it should be multiplied and not divided. But unfortunately, some fans believe this father of 18 doesn’t practice what he preaches. 

Sister Wives: Kody Brown Wrangled Them In

After this latest Sister Wives season came to a close, fans pretty much cemented their opinion of Kody Brown. Curiosity brought millions of people to the debut of this TLC reality series over a decade ago. 

It seems curiosity still brings them back. But curiosity for the viewers today focuses on something different than it did in the earlier days of the Sister Wives show.

When Kody, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown first graced the small screen, people wanted to see how one man can live with four wives. Viewers questioned everything from jealousy to bedtime rituals for Kody Brown and his four wives.

But today curiosity centers on Kody Brown’s treatment of the four Sister Wives brides he married. He came on the screen originally offering a transparent look at his lifestyle. Although in the last few seasons of the TLC series, he might be a tad too transparent for his own good.

Always the Victim?

If there’s one thing the audience learned about the Sister Wives patriarch, is that he thinks a lot of himself. Many fans call Kody Brown “selfish.” When the show first aired, viewers quickly picked out their favorite among the wives. 

One or two of the wives may have more followers online than others. But each of the four ladies enjoys their own fan base. So through the years as Kody Brown humiliated and mortified the Sister Wives ladies by things that he said, his popularity tanked.

His very public insults to his wives really tainted his reputation. It wasn’t going too good before that anyway. But once he started to belittle his wives people really started to call him out.

Sister Wives: That Was Just Plain Awful…

None of the four Sister Wives ladies have escaped insults from their shared husband. Sure, wives everywhere hear insults from their husbands. This is nothing rare, it happens every day. But this usually happens in the privacy of their own home or behind closed doors.

Most wives don’t have to worry about an awful insult from their husband making headline news. Or mortifying them in front of millions of people.

Kody Brown insulted his four wives in separate incidences. He’s done this on-screen, online, and in a book, that they penned years ago. It’s hard to judge who got the worst of it through the years. But what Kody Brown offered up in the book about Christine Brown has to be near the top.

Kody seems to respect Janelle the most. Or at least this seems to be the consensus of the Sister Wives followers. Above, Janelle wishes him a happy anniversary. The throwback pic comes from a few years ago. Janelle posted it to celebrate her and Kody’s 25 years together… now they near their 30th.

Christine Brown Grosses Out Kody

Several years ago the five Sister Wives adults wrote a book. It’s titled “Becoming Sister Wives – The Story of an Unconventional Marriage”. This is where Kody offered up a detailed description of some of his first thoughts about Christine Brown.

The setting was a road trip with Kody Brown driving, Meri Brown sat in the front passenger seat, and Christine in the back seat. This is before Christine became part of the family. But Kody was contemplating a romance and making her his third bride.

Christine sat in the backseat on this trip. Kody writes how they stopped at a  Quickie Mart. Then Christine purchased the biggest helping of chili cheese nachos he claimed he’d ever seen.

Once the trip got underway again, Kody Brown got a glimpse of Christine Brown in the rearview mirror. She woofed down the nachos at a rapid rate. Nacho sauce and cheese were everywhere.

Kody writes in the book how this “chubby” girl inhaling this food grossed him out. He almost didn’t pursue Christine after this incident.

Sister Wives: Ick-Factor For Robyn Brown

Kody Brown raised eyebrows, dropped jaws, and had people seething mad the way he described his first thoughts about Robyn Brown. The fourth woman to become his bride gave Kody some fuel for thought before his proposal.

It was during a Sister Wives “Tell All” episode where Kody Brown dropped a bomb on Robyn Brown in front of a nationwide audience. The woman at the helm of this interview was mortified. Even Kody’s other wives looked shocked and started to scold him.

But believe it or not, Robyn supported Kody’s words. So what did he say? When he first laid eyes on Robyn and heard he backstory, she had an “ick-factor” as far as Kody was concerned.

Apparently, Robyn’s divorce wasn’t the only thing that sparked that ick-factor for Kody. It was the fact that she had children with another man as well.

But he eventually adopted her three kids and then went on to have two more kids with her shared husband. The jury is still out as far as Robyn Brown is concerned about future babies for the Sister Wives family.

Meri Brown Handed Laundry List of Insults

Kody Brown has said some horrific things on the air about Meri Brown over the last few seasons of Sister Wives. No one is saying Kody doesn’t have a right to have his own feelings. But fans think his belittling of Meri is horrendous.

He claims she manipulated him into marriage. He wished he never married her, and the list goes on and on. Meri Brown was the first to marry Kody Brown.

The Sister Wives’ patriarch claimed he no longer finds himself attracted to Meri Brown. He shared on the show that he longer desires to have an intimate relationship with her as well. He should leave this information filed under “private” and not shout it from the rooftops via the Sister Wives show.

Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Not Hit As Hard

Out of all the Sister Wives ladies, it seems Kody seems to hold the most respect for Janelle Brown. But, with that said, she still didn’t avoid ridicule from her shared husband in a public setting. Or more precisely, he passed an insult her way during an episode of their TLC show.

While it’s nowhere near the level of horrible insults he spits out about his other three wives, it’s still a diss towards his second bride. During the COVID shut down, Kody Brown took it very seriously.

He made sure his family hunkered down in their four homes but Janelle didn’t follow the level of protocol Kody did. She allowed her older kids to get on with their lives. Such as going to work and dating. So he deemed Janelle lazy about not wanting to enforce rules for her household.

While that’s not earth-shattering, Kody Brown made this a public statement by saying it on the Sister Wives show. He did this on screen for all the fans to hear.

So, when Kody Brown feels the wrath of the audience through the awful comments you know where it comes from. A big part is due to his treatment of his wives. Many of the fans from this TLC series think this husband goes too far.
