Tammy Slaton Missing — Good or Bad News for ‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Star?

1000-Lb Sisters fans are missing Tammy Slaton and worried. She’s gone silent on all her social media platforms. So, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

1000-Lb Sisters: Tammy Slaton Making Progress in Rehab

The last time fans saw Tammy Slaton on their TLC show, Chris Combs loaded her into the family minivan, heading off to bariatric rehab. Chris drove seven hours to the facility in Ohio that specializes in bariatric rehabilitation.

But by the time they got to Windsor Lane Health Care, Tammy was in respiratory distress. They’d been monitoring Tammy’s oxygen stats, and she said they dropped to 65.

When it falls under 60, the Mayo Clinic says you need supplemental oxygen. But recall, Tammy from 1000-Lb Sisters was already on oxygen. She’d also revealed that she had carbon dioxide poisoning.

That’s a complication that comes with being super morbidly obese. Excess weight compressing the lungs prevents deep respiration. This can cause obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS).

Once Tammy went into crisis, the rehab center sent her to the emergency room. Doctors put her in a medically induced coma for four days. When she woke, they performed a tracheotomy.

And they put her on a ventilator. But her last couple of Tik Tok videos pointed to a dramatic improvement in her medical status.

So, what are the big signs that Tammy Slaton’s doing better? First, she’s noticeably slimmer. But there is more on the 1000-Lb Sisters diva.

TLC Star Off Ventilator – Out of Rehab Soon?

Tammy Slaton still has her tracheostomy (the opening in her throat). But the big vent tube is no longer attached. That means she’s off the mechanical ventilator to help her breathe. The trach’s capped in her recent video.

And she’s back on a standard nasal cannula for oxygen. That’s the kind she always wore on the series. So, does that mean Tammy’s leaving rehab soon? Recently, Amy Slaton Halterman and baby Gage Halterman visited her.

Tammy said she planned to stay six months when she left to check into rehab. She said she wanted to get her health back on track. Those were also her last words on the last episode of 1000-Lb Sisters.

She confirmed her medical status in late November 2021 from the hospital after she was out of the coma. That points to her heading to rehab in early December.

If she stays six months as promised, Tammy Slaton will head home at the end of May. So, the other positive sign that she could be prepping to go back home is them capping her ventilator.

It could be that Tammy’s close to decannulation (removal of the trach). One New England Journal of Medicine article on obese patients said that doctors usually cap the trach for 24-hours.

That way, they can see if the patient can tolerate going without it. Then, if the test period goes well, the doctor can remove the tube and bandage the opening, which usually seals by itself.

So, is this what’s next for 1000-Lb Sisters’ Tammy Slaton? And is this part of why she’s not posting on social now?

Is Tammy Gone Because They’re Filming 1000-Lb Sisters Season 4?

Tammy Slaton said on a video in March 2022 that Season 4 was coming — only they’d not begun filming. Yet, a few days ago, Chris Combs said Season 4 is “not” happening because he hasn’t signed a contract yet.

So, there’s the question of whether their TLC show is canceled or renewed. And also, where is Tammy, and why has she disappeared from social media.

Her TikTok was erroneously shut down for a few days. But she’s got it back yet is not posting. Is that because they began filming season four of 1000-Lb Sisters?

Also, Amy Slaton’s been MIA from her YouTube for two weeks. She’s posted a few updates on Instagram, but nothing with photos of her. Is the family filming — or getting ready to?

1000-Lb Sisters: Chris Combs

Chris Combs’ denial of renewal came just a few days ago. But could it be that they don’t execute all the contracts at once? After all, he’s not one of the title stars.

Could the production company already be filming with Tammy Slaton at her rehab? Recall that the facility let TLC film at the end of last season. So, they seem open to it. We’ll update you when we have more info.
