Sister Wives celeb Meri Brown seemed confused over Kody Brown’s intentions when she found herself alone with him in the last episode. Well… as alone as you can be with the TLC cameras rolling. But Kody stayed behind at Meri’s house after the spouses ended their meeting and invited the TLC camera crew to stay, too.
Sister Wives: Now Kody Brown Wants Something From Meri Brown
Past comments from the Sister Wives fans indicate many see Meri Brown treated as an outcast. Some fans suggest she’s a victim of harsh treatment from Kody Brown in the last few seasons. Fans even suggest her co-wives verbally swiped at her from time to time.
So when Kody seeks Meri’s opinion and possibly her shoulder to lean on, this seems like a sudden change. But is the negative sentiment Sister Wives fans saw between Meri Brown and her husband all the result of TLC editing? Or is the vibe we see on-screen the real deal?
In a marriage counseling session, Kody takes a stand about his relationship with Meri. That’s because Kody Brown refuses to work on his marriage with Meri Brown. But he also told the therapist that he “could never be honest” because she’s “unwilling to move away from being the victim”.
Sister Wives: Meri Takes Control – Has Final Say
Kody Brown made it quite clear on Sister Wives that he no longer lives with Meri Brown. That seemed to be code that she’s off the Sister Wives‘ famous rotating “schedule”. So, when Kody approached Meri during a private chat without the other wives, it was strange. And, she took control of their talk.
At first, Meri seemed confused about why Kody wanted to talk to her. Then, he told her why he picked her. He claims it’s because Meri Brown wouldn’t freak out over their home situation. Since she didn’t want to move to Flagstaff in the first place. But Meri took issue with his explanation on Sister Wives.
Next, Kody said he thought he’d get things off his chest. But did it work out for him on Sister Wives? As Kody Brown talked about slashing home prices, Meri Brown took a stand. She told him house stuff is Janelle’s domain. Then, she said she’d tell Janelle and wanted Kody there when she did. Then, Meri Brown ended the conversation.

What Was Kody Looking For?
Before Kody Brown tagged Meri for this talk, he expressed a few strong emotions. The Sister Wives patriarch said he felt alone and that his wives blamed him for their financial problems. At the meeting at Meri’s house, Kody laid out the family’s financial situation for the Sister Wives ladies.
But when he was done, all the wives seemed unhappy. And, Kody looked almost defeated by the time he cornered Meri after the meeting and called her a “captive audience”. Was Kody fishing for sympathy? If so, it didn’t seem to work. He said he and Janelle were “just going to contradict each other”.
This shocked Meri Brown because she thinks those two are like-minded when it comes to finances. So, Meri wouldn’t back down. She stood firm on including Janelle in this talk. She repeated this again to her Sister Wives husband. Then, Kody Brown said that contradicting each other “is just going to upset me”.
But Meri still didn’t bite. She stood firm and tabled that conversation for when Janelle could be involved. Then Kody started in about Robyn, who is on the opposite end of the spectrum when it came to cutting the house prices. She’s against it. Kody told Meri, “Robyn and I… [are] at very different places”.
Fishing – But No Bites?
Meri didn’t take the bait on either of Kody’s woes over Janelle or Robyn. Or if she did, TLC cut it from the show. So, if Kody Brown wanted a sympathetic shoulder to cry on, he didn’t get it from Meri Brown. At one point, she said to the Sister Wives camera, “I’m really concerned he’s going to look like an idiot”.
Then, Meri Brown paused and added: “It’s best I don’t say that”. Too late… In the end, it looks like she took control of the situation and didn’t let Kody Brown air his issues with the other wives to her. Kody seemed dissatisfied as he left her house. So what’s next for the forlorn Sister Wives husband?
