‘Sister Wives’: Did Kody Brown’s Shrug Cost Him His Paycheck?

Sister Wives celebrity Kody Brown may have shrugged his shoulders at the wrong time, as it looks as if it could cost him.

The husband who once had four wives prided himself on the leadership of his large family. This made him stand out as the star of the TLC show. But that changed as the reality series seasons rolled by.

Not only Kody Brown, but it looks like his remaining three wives were put on the back burner. It’s not Kody, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, or Robyn Brown in a cover story for People Magazine. No, it’s Christine Brown.

After the humiliating things that the husband of four has said to Christine Brown over the years, fans were happy to see her leave him. Her popularity seemed to soar once she ended her marriage and left the Sister Wives clan.

So, today it’s Christine who shines, not Kody or his other wives. Likely, Papa Brown didn’t expect his third wife’s popularity to grow in leaps and bounds once she said goodbye.

At the same time that Kody’s ex-wife became popular, it looks like his fame started to wane. Today it seems as if fans doubt another season of Sister Wives will follow the new one on the way.

Christine Brown Pulled Down but Now Outshines the Rest

While the fate of Sister Wives on the screen is anybody’s guess, some fans see this as the end. It is no longer a show about the upside of polygamy. It’s not really about polygamy at all, according to the critics.

But fans want to know what happens to Christine Brown after her life with Kody and the Sister Wives ended. They ask for a spinoff with her and possibly Janelle Brown as well. These two remained close since wife number three flew the coop.

So, the father of 18 told stories about Christine while on camera. Kody embarrassed her by telling the story about the chubby girl who ate nachos to the Sister Wives fans.

The mom of six sat home with his newborn baby as he spent a 10-day honeymoon with his new wife, Robyn Brown. Then the one incident that demolished Christine’s respect for her shared husband happened not too long ago on Sister Wives. She recently confessed that Kody broke her little girl’s heart.

When this mom took Ysabel Brown to New York for surgery to correct her scoliosis, Kody didn’t go. While she understood the COVID thing made Kody afraid to travel, Ysabel didn’t understand, and it crushed her. So, this wife said recently she lost all respect for her husband. So, she couldn’t stay with a man she didn’t respect.

Sister Wives: Kody Not Main Attraction Anymore?

Kody’s mission to stay on the air became clear when the show was canceled after Season 11. He went to the powers-who-be at TLC to negotiate a gigantic pay cut.

Kody Brown gave up all but one of the five spouses’ salaries to keep his show for that season. It worked, the ratings went up and history tells the rest of the story, they’re headed into Season 17.

So, it seems as if it’s very important to this man to keep his Sister Wives show going. This keeps him and the ladies in the limelight. They not only make money from the show’s salaries, but they also rake it in with product promotion as well.

They utilize their fame to the max. But when reality shows get put out to pasture, the characters from the series seem to fade away as well.

With that said, the shared husband seeing his wife rise above it all and becoming quite sought after likely gets under his skin. To think, this started with Kody Brown’s refusal to talk things over with Christine.

All he would give her was a shrugging of his shoulders. This is what he said he did when she wanted to know if they’d ever become intimate again.

Pulling the Plug on Kody?

So, in a roundabout way, that shoulder shrug pulled the plug on Christine and Kody Brown’s marriage. It also started the two off in new directions.

It seems like they went in polar opposite ways. Christine ends up as a feature in a popular mainstream entertainment publication. Plus, Sister Wives followers continue their shout-outs via social media to TLC. They want them to give her a show of her own.

But at the same time, fans predict Kody and the other wives ran out of fuel for entertaining the masses. Their original mission failed. The Sister Wives patriarch seems to have gone the way of polygamy with Robyn Brown, so what’s left to tell?

While they have other forms of income, it seems the lion’s share comes from the reality series. So, if this new season is their last, it looks like that shrug proved costly.
