‘Married at First Sight’: Michaela Clark – Abandoned Already?

Married at First Sight newlywed Michaela Clark found herself alone after the first night in the shared apartment in Houston. After missing out on her honeymoon due to her husband’s illness, she wasn’t pleased that he left without telling her where he was going. Zack tried to defend himself, but she acted skeptical of his reasons. Will this sabotage their relationship?

Married at First Sight: Michaela Clark Wakes Up Alone

Michaela Clark, of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight, woke up alone the morning after moving into the shared apartment with her husband. She called out for him and later said she texted him, but he did not answer. The pair had just gotten back together after being separated on their honeymoon because he tested positive for COVID.

The camera view of the apartment on Married at First Sight showed Zack leaving at 7:15 am, and Michaela did not get up for another hour after that.  She walked around the apartment, checking rooms and calling her husband’s name. She was so angry and upset, she slammed some things down on the table.

Then she packed a few bags and left the apartment herself. Michaela later told fans of Married at First Sight that she would too if he were going to act like that. He tried to explain why he never came to bed with her the night before, but his wife wasn’t receptive to it.

MAFS: Zack Sees Red Flags

Zack tried to tell Michaela Clark that he simply fell asleep in the other room with his dog. The next morning, he took the dog to a grooming appointment. From his point of view, he said he didn’t intentionally abandon her in the apartment on Married at First Sight. He didn’t seem to see why it was such a big deal that she didn’t know where he was.

But, Michaela indicated that waking up without her husband and being unable to contact him was a trust issue. She said the things he said sounded good, but she didn’t know if he was trustworthy or not. The Married at First Sight couple were at opposite ends of the couch as they waited for a visit from one of the MAFS experts.

He said it was a red flag for him that she left the apartment rashly over something so simple. But she turned it around, saying she left because of what he did. Then they argued about whether he came back or not. He claimed he came back at 9:15, and she was gone. Then Michaela called him a liar and said she was still there at that time.

Married at First Sight: Michaela Shows Vulnerability

Once MAFS expert Pastor Calvin Roberson arrived, he quickly noticed the tension in the air. The two admitted they just had their first argument. Pastor Cal quickly explained that his leaving triggered Michaela’s feelings of abandonment due to her Dad’s sudden death years before.

He tried to comfort his new bride, but she shied away from him. Tears came to Michaela Clark’s eyes as she told Married at First Sight’s Pastor Cal her Dad was gone forever. He was a good man, she said with a quivering voice. She said he was her protector, and since he died, it’s difficult for her to put her trust and vulnerability in another man.

Zack promised to be the man who can take care of Michaela Clark. She resisted at first but finally allowed her man to hold her as she cried. Can this Married at First Sight couple find a way to overcome this hurdle? Or will the enforced separation during their honeymoon prove to be too much for them to overcome on the Lifetime experiment?
