‘Sister Wives’: Kody Brown’s Family Salaries and Net Worth for 2020

Sister Wives star Kody Brown and his co-wives’ net worth offers a bit of surprise as numbers seem to add up differently than you might expect. Still, Kody appears to sing the same chorus of money woes for the past decade of the show’s seasons.

During the Sister Wives’ patriarch’s discussions last season, he suggested that money was more than tight. According to Kody Brown, they were just a couple of months away from not having enough money to pay their bills.

Sister Wives: Kody Brown and Wives 2020 Net Worth?

Kody seems to report financial problems. But on paper, it doesn’t look like the Sister Wives clan swirls the drain of destitution. Recent reports put Kody Brown’s net worth at about $800,000. Meri Brown, the first wife of the Sister Wives family, comes in with an estimated net worth of $400,000.

The net worth for the Sister Wives second and third wives, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown estimates also hover the $400,000 mark. Robyn Brown is the last of Kody Brown’s ladies to join their polygamous marriage.

But she reportedly carries the biggest net worth out of all his co-wives. She comes in with an estimated $600,000 for her net worth. Robyn came into this marriage without enough money for a tank of gas. Or so she claims in a book she penned years ago with the other Sister Wives adults. So, how does one explain her net worth towering over the other wives?

Meri Brown goes gangbusters with sales for the clothing company she works for. So, it’s hard to believe she didn’t rise above the others. But Kody sitting with a double net worth compared to three of his Sister Wives co-wifes seemed equally as baffling.

Property Rich?

Since the patriarch of this enormous family doesn’t seem to have a job outside of the reality show, how did this happen? Up until about a month ago, Kody’s name appeared on every property title with each wife.

Recently he took his name off Christine’s home title. On paper, he sold his half-ownership to her for $10. With his name on all the wives’ properties, it stands to reason his net worth would top the ladies.

Robyn’s larger net worth than her Sister Wives cohorts might also be explained by property ownership. Her name appears on more deeds than her co-wives. She’s listed as co-owner with Kody on four of the Sister Wives properties, including lots on Coyote Pass.

None of the other wives have four properties in their name with Kody Brown. It seems Kody secured his legal wife’s future by putting her name on the lion’s share of their property.

Sister Wives: Salary Negotiations Via Kody Brown

The Sister Wives’ salaries might not be enough to support these five adults and the slew of kids still under Kody’s roof. At one time it probably felt like an unbelievable windfall for this family who’s co-wives once counted on public assistance to make ends meet.

But probably not today, not in the style they’re accustomed to since becoming celebs. Still, an event several years back seemed to indicate that money wasn’t the only gain this show offered the Sister Wives brood. The fame the series awarded Kody Brown and his women opened doors to even more financial gains.

After Sister Wives Season 11, Kody’s finagling over salaries with the TLC decision-makers shocked fans. The series faltered in views, so TLC canceled the reality show. But Kody Brown wouldn’t let it go.

At this time, each Sister Wives adult reportedly received a salary of $180,000. So to borrow a catchphrase from the movie God Father, Kody made TLC an offer they just couldn’t refuse. He offered to take a humongous pay cut.

Instead of $180,000 for each adult, Kody went on with the show for $180,000 for all five adults combined. He dropped four of the salaries. TLC apparently went for it and the rest is history, they’re still going strong today with a new season on the way.

Sister Wives: Combined Salaries For Brown Adults Today

But Kody Brown’s willingness to drop these salaries only reinforces the theories that their fame is just as important or maybe even more important than a paycheck. Sure, who wouldn’t want those salaries. But the show also opened the door for celebrity endorsements.

Look at Meri going all out selling clothing merchandise to her fan base. With hundreds of thousands of followers, Meri and her co-wives have a ready-made customer base. Christine sells this clothing brand as well. All three original Sister Wives ladies endorse a slew of products today. The only one you don’t see doing this is Robyn Brown.

So now that the Sister Wives reclaimed a good portion of their fanbase and the series continues, what are their salaries today? The latest reports indicate the cast members’ salary is based on 10 percent of the budget assigned to each episode.

Reports indicate the Sister Wives show’s budget fluctuates between $250,000 to $400,000 each episode. So combined, they make approximately $25,000 to $40,000 per episode. Then multiply that by the number of episodes in a season and this gives you Kody Brown and his ladies combined salaries for each season.

The Sister Wives series vastly fluctuates in the number of episodes each season. They range from eight episodes, for Season 5 to 24 episodes for Season 12 and all numbers in between for the rest of the seasons. So, it appears, Kody and company do okay for themselves in the salary department today.
