‘My 600-Lb Life’ Update: Pauline Potter Dead — Rumor or Reality?
My 600-Lb Life brought Pauline Potter to our screens seven years ago but is she dead or alive? A recent rumor on social media had TLC fans worried that the woman who came so far had lost her life. Here’s the truth.
Is Pauline Potter from My 600-Lb Life Dead or Alive?
Out of the blue, rumors cropped up this week that Pauline Potter died. However, these seem to be way off the mark. When TLC aired her episode on February 28, 2015, it was Season 3, Episode 7.
At her heaviest, Pauline tipped the scales at 700 pounds. Four years before she debuted on the TLC show, the Guinness Book of World Records listed her as the “world’s heaviest living woman”.
Shockingly, that was when she weighed 643 lbs. Then, she packed on even more weight before Dr. Younan Nowzaradan tried to help on My 600-Lb Life.
Pauline contacted Guinness Book to gain the accolade. And she said it was in hopes a medical expert would help her shed all that weight. She was 51 when production company Megalomedia cast her for the show.
How Much Weight Did She Lose on My 600-Lb Life?
When her episode aired, Pauline Potter weighed 678 at age 51. She relocated from Sacramento, California to Houston, Texas to work with Dr. Now. She came to him with her son Dillon Brooks.
Her son was her main caregiver and it put a strain on them. While Pauline did enough to qualify for weight loss surgery, things fell apart after her operation. However, she dropped to 529 under his care.
Then, Dr. Nowzaradan lost faith in her. Paulina later got addicted to painkillers and a burst ulcer led to sepsis. Her life was on the line due to another medical issue. on My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now, she explained her issues.
She said the surgery fixed her stomach but not her mind. She added that the “fat girl in me is still there”. And Pauline Potter accused production of faking a comment from her about brushing her teeth.
She said, “I RESENT that they edited my voice into saying “at 600 pounds, you can’t really get up and brush your teeth.” Then, she reiterated that she “never said that because it is NOT true!”
Despite that, her near-death experience was the catalyst for her to get serious about shedding her excess weight. And Pauline’s made amazing progress.
Pauline Potter Update — How Much Does She Weigh Now?
After dropping Dr. Now from her regimen, Pauline Potter took her health into her own hands. But post My 600-Lb Life, she resumed with him. Now, she’s dropped more than 530 pounds total since she began her journey.
By October 2020, Pauline was down to 226 pounds. In total, she devoted seven years to living in Houston and pursuing her weight loss journey.
A year later, she revealed her journey was complete and she planned to move back to CA. Now, it looks like Pauline Potter is under 200 lbs and looks fantastic. By all accounts, she may be the biggest success ever on the TLC show.
