‘Married at First Sight’ Exclusive: Mindy Shiben Dishes on Zach – Tells Scariest Thing About MAFS
Married at First Sight pair Mindy Shiben and love match Zach Justice walk down the aisle in the next episode of the Lifetime show. But, early on in the fresh season, MAFS viewers don’t know much about the new couples. Soap Dirt caught up with Mindy Shiben for an exclusive interview. And, she dished on Zach Justice and her overall filming experience. What did she reveal?
Married at First Sight: Mindy Shiben Dishes on the Scariest Part About Filming with Zach Justice
Soap Dirt (SD): What was your scariest part about the Married at First Sight process?
Mindy Shiben (MS): “I feel like the natural response would be marrying a stranger, but for some reason, that wasn’t the case with me. I’d say the scariest part was exposing my life to the world, including my ugly side. But honestly, I’d rather have the [Married at First Sight] viewers see my authentic self than see some fake ‘perfect’ version of me”.
SD: What was the biggest takeaway that you wish MAFS viewers watching at home knew?
Mindy: “I wish the viewers could understand the production side of things. Our producers are such great, caring people and we all became friends during the process. It was extremely important to the producers to capture our most raw moments and to not influence our experience in any way. I [Mindy Shiben] am not sure how it works on other shows, but with Married at First Sight, the viewers get a truly authentic story”.
MAFS: Mindy Talks About Working with the Experts
Soap Dirt: What do you think was the best advice a Married at First Sight expert gave you?
Mindy Shiben: “Dr Viviana [Coles] caught on to the fact that I’m a people-pleaser almost right away. She helped me see the importance of making healthy choices for myself. People that worry about everyone’s happiness except their own get hurt at the end of the day. I feel like something clicked for me when I had this talk with Dr Viviana and I’m forever grateful to her for helping me grow into a happier, healthier person”.
SD: In what way has MAFS changed you?
Mindy: “I can certainly say that I’m a stronger, more confident person than I was before Married at First Sight and I can thank the experts for pulling that out of me. Right away, the experts saw positive traits in me that I could offer someone else in a marriage. Not only did they encourage me to treat Zach well, they insisted I [Mindy Shiben] treat myself with respect and compassion above all else”.
SD: What question have you never been asked in an interview that you wish was asked? And, what’s the answer?
Mindy: “Is there anything that you are unwilling to compromise on in your marriage? Yes, I could never stop teaching skating, even for my marriage. Skating is my lifelong passion and so much of my identity is tied to sharing my passion with the kids I teach. It’s 100 percent crucial that my husband understands that!”
First Impressions about Husband Zach Justice on Married at First Sight?
Mindy Shiben and hubby Zach Justice tie the knot this season on Married at First Sight. When you marry a stranger, first impressions are huge. Mindy dished on what she thought about her new husband. Mindy said “heck yeah!” when asked if she found her new hubby attractive.
In addition, she said Zach Justice sent her a “thoughtful card” and a “gift” before walking down the aisle. She found his words “comforting”. And, it certainly seems like his gesture helped ease some of the pre-wedding jitters.
Zach Justice and Mindy Shiben have different styles when it comes to expressing emotion. Mindy describes herself as an “open book”. Meanwhile, her spouse is more “closed off”. She added that he can be “hard to read” at times. In addition, she said he is more the jealous type when it comes to previous relationships. So, it will be interesting to see if this leads to conflict on the new season of Married at First Sight.
What to Expect From Mindy Shiben and Groom Zach Justice
Mindy and Zach Justice marry on the next episode of Married at First Sight. And, it will be interesting to see if the newly married duo have chemistry once they begin their lives as a married couple.
Mindy Shiben told SD that Married at First Sight watchers will know “pretty much everything” about them this season. So, it certainly looks like all of their cards will be on the table for viewers to see. Meanwhile, whether or not they choose to stay together come Decision Day will be something to watch for.
