Married At First Sight: Midseason Mayhem Rattles Fans

Married At First Sight season 17 in Denver certainly lives up to the phrase “rocky mountain high” with only three couples hanging on till decision day. Early favorites Orion Martzloff and Lauren G. fizzled fast and barely made it through the honeymoon before asking for a divorce. Groom Michael Shiakallis was ditched at the altar. But will he get a second chance?

Married At First Sight: Orion Martzloff Hints at a Reconciliation

With the Married At First Sight Denver couples crumbling like stale Christmas cookies, fans are getting fed up. The Denver season held promise. But one by one the five couples began to crack like thin ice. It started when groom Michael Shiakallis got shafted at the altar. His mystery bride showed up. But failed to say “I do”. Instead, she couldn’t follow through. And admitted she didn’t want to marry a stranger. Michael won fans over when he was gracious in the face of rejection.

Fans were hopeful for MAFS couple Lauren and Orion Martzloff. The pair definitely sparked at their wedding. And were thoughtfully getting to know each other until things backfired. They couldn’t get past their differences on the honeymoon. And Orion waffled once they got back to Denver to move in together. But ultimately, he asked for a divorce before that could happen. Lauren was willing to try. But ultimately respected his choice to throw in the towel.

At a potluck dinner with the rest of the Married At First Sight cast, Lauren calls Orion out for gaslighting her. And ends up in tears of frustration after everyone leaves. She’s tired of him blaming her for the early demise of the union. In a midseason roundtable episode titled The Journey So Far: Denver, it’s teased that Orion Martzloff regrets his early divorce decision. Scenes from an upcoming episode also hint the two may reconnect. Fans are divided as to whether this is a good idea for Lauren.

Married At First Sight: Lack Of Intimacy across the Board for the Couples

Other than the obvious drama on MAFS, even the other couples are breaking down at the halfway point. While Austin and Becca Haley seem playful and affectionate, they can’t step up to the next level of intimacy. Becca suggests she’s ready. But Austin drags his feet. This has led fans to speculate he’s checking out of the marriage. Another red flag appeared when Austin suggested religious differences may be a hurdle. But his friend said it really hasn’t ever been much of an issue before.

Cameron Frazer took a stand on Married At First Sight. He’s feeling attracted to Clare Kerr. And is eager for some affection. But he thinks Clare is holding him at arms length. And he’s just not feeling any chemistry on her end. He tells her he has to protect himself. And will be moving into the spare bedroom. He gives her a chance to tell him if she feels like she wants a life with him. But she remains unsure.

MAFS Couple Emily and Brennan Stun Fans

Married At First Sight couple Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet seemed to have a great connection after their Denver wedding. The fun continued on the honeymoon. The couple enjoyed tequila tasting and flyboarding. Brennan even called her a badass. Then she made a comment to him about if he knew how to have fun. This seemed to shut him down and make him angry. And a definite chill set in.

Back at home, Brennan balked at moving in with Emily and suggested he needed some space. While he later agreed to move in, he seemed annoyed with all the luggage Emily brought. And didn’t really help her with it. A visit with Pastor Calvin Roberson revealed he wasn’t feeling a romantic spark. He refused to be specific with Emily and this left her in tears. Her friends confronted hm at the house party but he was vague. So, it seems a lot remains to be seen when this season returns.
