Married At First Sight: Becca Haley Deals with a Clingy MIL – Recap [S17E04]
This week on Married At First Sight Becca Haley meets her new in-laws and mom isn’t exactly thrilled to share her son. Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer win most awkward start to a honeymoon. Married At First Sight: Becca Handles Her MIL
On Married At First Sight, Becca Haley meets her new in-laws. And her mother-in-law lets her know she better not break her baby boy’s heart. While Austin and Becca are getting along great, it’s his mom that meddles with newlywed bliss. She suggests that she cares about people’s hearts. Well, she cares about Austin’s of course. And calls herself a mama bear. Cringe.
Becca Haley handles the salty exchange with class. And suggests she considers love a gift. And that she will be careful with Austin’s heart should he trust her with it. But it’s clear to see mom is a little clingy and there could be rough waters ahead. Like if Becca doesn’t make his favorite dish at thanksgiving, look out.

On the other side of town on Married At First Sight, Austin fares much better with Becca’s friends. They find them similar. And let him know that Becca Haley sometimes downplays her health issues. He wants to know if he can call on them for support on how to handle some of the complications that may arise. Of course, they are on board.
Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer Begin to Unravel
New Married At First Sight couple Cameron Frazer and Clare Kerr were ok at the wedding and reception. It did seem that maybe they were trying too hard to convince themselves that they were feeling it. But body language and facial expressions seem to say otherwise. Cameron helps Clare unbutton her dress and makes a comment about teasing “horny grooms”.
Clare Kerr cuts the unbuttoning short and he admits he’s not feeling any physical chemistry at this point. And Cameron Frazer decides to take a shower. Things aren’t much better the next day. Clare’s sister comes for him pretty hard while her mom looks like she’s in a constant state of discomfort. He rattles on about being more physical when it comes to expressing himself.

Cameron fears that Clare doesn’t get his sense of humor. Clare Kerr is peeved that he doesn’t help her with her suitcase. And leaves her several steps behind when they head to the airport for the honeymoon. Cameron Frazer suggests he thought independent women didn’t want help. But Clare says she would appreciate it. So far not so good with this MAFS couple.
Married At First Sight: The Gang Meets Michael Shiakallis
All the Married At First Sight couples gather in the hotel lobby to prepare for their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet pre-game with a shot in their suite before joining the others. The group is surprised to see Michael Shiakallis solo. He explains what happened at the altar and everyone sympathizes.
They suggest he join them anyway. But he politely declines. They are impressed with how he handled the situation. And he suggests the runaway bride owes him no apology for doing what is right for herself. And off they go to Mexico. Let the drama begin as this season is certainly a drag so far.
