Harmony Hamilton on Y&R is coming up today because of her backstory. The facts are that in her youth, she was a groupie who followed a rock band around. And that led to a one-night stand.
The result of her one-nighter? None other than Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). But on Young and the Restless, the story is that Harmony gave birth to him but was dirt poor. She turned to prostitution and he led a grim life while young.
Things got so bad with her, he wound up living with Harmony’s mother as his own mom spiraled into drug addiction. That’s all backstory and Bryton James was first introduced as Harmony Hamilton’s son when he was a troubled teen on Y&R.
He didn’t know he was tied to the wealthy Chancellors… She also had a daughter, who Devon grew up thinking was his aunt, not his sister — that’s Ana Hamilton — daughter of musician Jett Slade.
Who Plays Tucker McCall & What’s His Backstory with Harmony on Y&R?
Both Harmony and Devon have a tie to the guy who just came back to town — Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). Their story on The Young and the Restless is that he was the guy she had the ONS with when she was a groupie.
Only Tucker never knew he got her pregnant. It wasn’t until Devon was living in GC as an adult that he and Tucker found out they were father and son. By then, Harmony Hamilton had cleaned up her act and returned to town to see her grown son.

They had an awkward family reunion with Harmony crushed that Tucker didn’t remember her or sleeping with her. In the narrated backstory, they said on Young and the Restless that she’d left an unsigned note revealing she’d had his child…
While back in town, she had a thing with Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), the man who acted as a father to Devon from his teen years until the time of his death. She and Tucker also had another ONS once she was back in town, clean and sober.
Who is Yolanda Hamilton on Young and the Restless?
The other name you might hear come up is Yolanda Hamilton on Y&R. That’s the same person. She changed her name to Harmony after she cleaned up her life and found sobriety. So, though her birth name is Yolanda, she prefers Harmony.
The role was first played by Chene Lawson on Young and the Restless from June 2005 to January 2006. Lawson played the part when she was Yolanda, living rough on the streets and addicted to crack, stealing things from her son when she had the chance.
But it was in October 2011 when they cast Debbie Morgan (All My Children, Dr, Angie Baxter) that the role blew up into something bigger. She came back to town as Harmony and was reunited with her son and his father.
However, a year later, Morgan was part of a cast culling of several actors during a regime change. And it was October 30, 2012, that we saw the last of Harmony Hamilton. But with Tucker back in Devon’s life, maybe she’ll return.
