Who is Tucker McCall on ‘Young and the Restless’ – Trevor St John Character Revealed?

Who is Tucker McCall on Young and the Restless – and why is everyone asking about him after all these years? Could it be because this is the mysterious role that Trevor St. John will play in a stunning CBS soap recast? Here’s the latest.

Who is Tucker McCall on Young and the Restless?

The most important things to know are his family ties. Tucker was the son Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) never knew she had. She forgot a decades-old pregnancy but was later reunited with Tucker. And ironically, he had a child he didn’t know about until decades later.

Who’s that offspring? Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is Tucker’s son. He’d knocked up a groupie back when he was on the road promoting rock bands. It’s through him that Devon got his bio link to Kay, which resulted in him inheriting billions.

On The Young and the Restless, Tucker was once-married to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and later Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case). He also had a short fling with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and a substantial romance with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).

Plus, the guy’s a corporate shark who’s tangled with the Newmans and Abbotts and has a deep history with all of them. He moved to Hong Kong and then, last viewers heard, he’d given up his wealth and was living in an ashram due to technological sensitivity (he’s allergic to devices…).

Is Trevor St. John a Recast of This Y&R Wildcard?

For most of the character’s run on Y&R, it was Stephen Nichols in the role (see above). He’s an alum of General Hospital (Stefan Cassadine) and currently on contract at Days of our Lives as Steve Johnson, AKA Patch. However, many spoilers point to a recast with Trevor St. John (seen below).

First, Trevor St. John’s arrival coincides with spoilers tying someone back in town to Diane, Devon, and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Second, all sound like they tie back to Tucker McCall’s history on the show. One says Victor confronts a former rival. So, it’s a returnee to GC. That also fits McCall…

Second, Diane’s backed into a corner by someone. That fits him, too, given their history. And finally, Young and the Restless spoilers say Devon brings in a familiar face. That could definitely mean his dad. And this IPO plotline with C-W planning to go public is a perfect fit for Tucker McCall’s dubious past.

Years ago, he conspired with and against Abbotts and Newmans over control of Jabot, Newman, Chancellor, and various patents owned by the companies. He can be quite the shady guy and landed in hot water with the SEC over sketchy transitions. But he always slithered out of trouble on Y&R.

Naysayers will comment that the original actor is two decades older than Trevor St. John. But that’s not such a huge deal given how the CBS writers love fudging history over the last few years. They’ve dug Diane out of her grave, so Tucker looking a little younger’s not a huge deal, right?

Tucker Got Deep Ties to Current Plots – Recast Makes Perfect Sense

Next week, Diane finds a man in her hotel room. And she’s already been getting texts from someone. Back in the day, Tucker McCall was part of the Diane “murder” storyline. He threatened to kill her for telling Ashley they’d had a one-night stand.

But he was too weak to follow through since he’d almost died when Abby Newman ran him down while drunk. Abby later told the cops she thought Tucker killed the woman. They’ve now rewritten history to say Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) helped her fake her death.

So, Young and the Restless writers may alter McCall’s backstory too. Given the actual known history of the CBS sudser, there’s no reason Tucker McCall would protect Diane from savage online tabloid stories. Except for one. Dirty corporate antics.

It could be that she came back to Genoa City to insinuate herself into the Abbotts’ lives because she’s working for him. Maybe he’s the one who owned the Bentley she rode around in LA. We’ll have to wait and see, but now you know who’s Tucker on Y&R.

He was last seen in May of 2013 during episodes where Kay died and in a special tribute episode to the legendary Jeanne Cooper. Will it be Tucker McCall’s name that Diane utters when she finds a man in her hotel room at the GCAC? We’ll see…
