1000-lb Sisters: Tammy Slaton Sent to Rehab

Tammy Slaton wasn’t in good shape at the end of Season 3. She had to fight to breathe and required constant oxygen. Her non-stop partying led to a medical crisis. When she hit rock bottom, she decided to try bariatric rehab.

Unfortunately, there was a medical crisis that sent her to the hospital instead. And she spent days in a medically-induced coma and on a ventilator to keep her alive. While in the hospital, doctors gave 1000-lb Sisters diva a tracheostomy.

Dr. Eric Smith Promised Surgery Soon in Season 3

Before Season 3 ended, bariatric surgeon Dr. Eric Smith came up from Atlanta to see Tammy Slaton in her Kentucky home. He was worried since she refused to come to him for a checkup. During this visit, he promised he wouldn’t give up on her.

Smith became Tammy’s doctor on 1000-lb Sisters after she was referred to him by Dr. Charles Procter (the doctor from Too Large, 1000-Lb Best Friends). He’s a bariatric surgeon at Georgetown Bariatrics and Advanced Surgical Services.

There are several laparoscopic bariatric surgery methods that Dr. Smith uses. A few of these methods include Robotic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Robotic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, and SADI-S Surgery.

While there hasn’t been an official update from the 1000-lb Sisters celebrity, it sure looks like Tammy got her surgery. And if you wonder, her tracheotomy wouldn’t prevent or complicate her getting surgery.

In fact, it’s common for some morbidly obese patients to get a trach before surgery. So, after all her time in rehab, It’s possible the doctor kept his promise and performed surgery after she did well in rehab.
