Tammy Slaton Back in Hospital – Was 1000-Lb Sisters Co-Star Out at All?
In late November 2021, Tammy Slaton revealed a lengthy hospital stay. She said she had carbon dioxide poisoning and pneumonia. Even scarier, she said she was septic. How did she get CO2 toxicity? Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome is a breathing issue affecting some obese people. The National Institutes of Health explained that “extra fat” on the neck can cause it.
This makes it hard to breathe deeply. Excess carbon dioxide is a symptom. One treatment to address this dangerous issue is tracheostomy. This is what Tammy has. It’s when the surgeon cuts a hole into your windpipe so a breathing tube can be placed. We see Tammy with it. It’s ain all recent photos and videos of the 1000-Lb Sisters star.
However, in mid-December, it was reported that Tammy was out of the hospital and headed to a rehab facility. Later in December, Tammy Slaton was out of hospital gowns and back into her own clothes. Plus, she showed herself spending time in a room with a ceiling fan. That’s not something seen in medical facilities. But now, she’s back in the hospital.
How Long Is She Hospitalized This Time?
Tammy is in a hospital gown and in a hospital room today, January 14th. She’s also got her breathing tube attached and she’s not speaking. That seems likely one issue given the breathing problems.
While it sounds scary that she had sepsis in November, there’s a bizarre outcome for obese patients with this issue. It’s called the “obesity paradox”. For reasons doctors don’t understand, heavy patients often recover better. They have better outcomes with sepsis than skinnier people. So, whatever sent Tammy back, it may be ongoing respiratory issues. And not a recurrence of sepsis.

But she also took a two-week hiatus from posting. From the New Year through today, she’s been MIA from social media. That had people wondering what was up.
