‘Young and the Restless’: Phyllis Wrecks Summer and Kyle’s Marriage (VIDEO)

Young and the Restless spoilers suspect Phyllis Summers may very well ruin Summer Newman‘s marriage to Kyle Abbott because she schemes. So is this fan-fave couple doomed on the CBS sudser?

Young and the Restless: Diane Jenkins Out on Bail

Hey there, CBS soap opera fans. This is Soap Dirt on YouTube, and we want to talk about something on Young and the Restless, and it is about Phyllis Summers wrecking her daughter’s marriage to Kyle Abbott. It seems inevitable at this point that that is what is going to happen.

We’re going to dig in and talk about what’s going on and why Summer is almost at the point of no return with her husband, and how her marriage could implode because of the choices that she’s making on Y&R right now.

Okay, let’s dig into this. So we know from official Young and the Restless spoilers this week that Diane Jenkins gets out of jail and she comes to the Abbott Mansion. There is a leaked photo. We don’t have it to put in this video because It belongs to someone else, the copyright does.

But the bottom line is the photo is Michael, Michael Baldwin, bringing Diane home to the Abbott Mansion and Diane hugging Jack. Michael hasn’t gotten the charges dropped, but he got a bail arrangement made where she’s wearing an ankle monitor and all this.

There’s some chatter that Jack may want to take her and try to run from this. Hopefully, that won’t happen, and hopefully, that’s just a rumor, but we’ll wait and see.

Summer Newman Covering for Her Mother on Y&R

Now let’s talk about Summer Newman right now. She knows that Diane is 100% innocent. She knows because Summer heard it straight from Phyllis Summers. Phyllis told her that she and Stark set it up, and then Stark turned on her, and then she had to.

So Phyllis unpacked all the details. She actually told her daughter the truth, and she knows that there’s no reason for Diane to be in jail except for her mother being petty. Okay. But Summer isn’t doing anything about that.

We also see that Kyle Abbott has no doubts that his mother is innocent. He, he, and Jack, neither one for a moment, even thought that she was capable of hurting Phyllis. That’s because Diane isn’t a violent person.

Yes, she was an unknowing cash mule for Jeremy Stark, but she didn’t know that she was. She faked her own death. Yes, she did that, but she didn’t hurt or physically hurt anybody else. She has never hurt anybody else.

The one time that it looked like she did, that was when Phyllis goaded her. She got physical with her to get her to attack her. But Phyllis got physical first. She started the whole thing.

Kyle Abbott Stuck on Young and the Restless

So right now, Kyle is in this odd spot where his mother is in jail, and he’s certain she’s innocent, but he is also trying to be very respectful of the fact that his mother-in-law is dead. Of course, we know she’s not, but as far as he knows, Summer is grieving the loss of Phyllis.

He is trying to be very respectful of that, even though he doesn’t know who might have killed her mother. He is certain that his mother didn’t do it. Stark is the likelier candidate. And right now, Summer is openly lying to him in an upcoming episode.

When he talks about it, she actually runs off. She is, at this point, enabling her mother’s plot. And she is personally responsible for every extra night that Diane spends in jail. Because Summer knows the truth and isn’t telling.

And when Kyle finds out, he is going to be furious. He is going to be furious that Summer left his mom, Diane, sitting in jail because of Phyllis Summers’ lies. That right there is enough to rip their marriage clean in two.

Phyllis Summers Being Selfish

Phyllis knows this. It was already a problem in their marriage, with Phyllis continually targeting Diane. Occasionally, Diane would give it back to her. But on the whole, Diane has been trying to hold back. So it’s just, it’s a mess.

And in May Sweeps’ official spoilers for Young and the Restless, they talk about Kyle and Summer’s marriage heading for trouble. And the source of that trouble is Phyllis Summers. When Phyllis showed up to meet Summer in Chancellor Park, she asked her to give her time.

And that makes us ask, okay, time for what? Because Phyllis needs to go to the police station, and she needs to say, okay, Jeremy Stark cooked up this plot. She can put it all off on him and say he cooked up this plot to fake my death.

I didn’t want to do it, but then he kidnapped me, and I had no choice, and then he attacked me, and I killed him, and I panicked, and I dumped his body. She will, she could serve some jail time for moving the body. That’s like a desecration of a corpse, obstruction of justice kind of charge.

Red Still Won’t Give Up Revenge on Young and the Restless

But Phyllis could easily flip this all around to blame it completely on Jeremy Stark. And even if some people still suspected that she had some role in it, there wouldn’t really be any proof, and she could probably get away with it. So the question is back to Phyllis needing time to do what?

Well, Phyllis wants to not pay for what she’s done. And Phyllis wants Diane to still stay in jail. As far as she’s concerned, that’s where Diane belongs. And the fact that she is lying and doing all this and not apologetic about it. It’s just a huge red flag.

That’s what Summer should have asked her mom. Time for what? Let’s go down to the police station, and you tell the truth. You tell the truth right now. But it seems that Phyllis is trying to find a way to leave Diane in jail.

She still wants to get her revenge, and escape the consequences of her actions. And if Summer lets this happen, and she lets Diane be convicted of crimes she knows that her mother set up, then Summer’s at the point of no return.

No Going Back for Summer on Young and Restless

Then Summer will have basically turned into her mother. Right now, Phyllis Summers has pulled her daughter into the dark side. And her marriage may not survive this. I mean, Jack and Kyle are going to be so upset.

They’re going to be primarily upset with Phyllis for setting up Diane and getting involved with Stark, and letting this revenge thing play out to the point that Diane was arrested.

But then Kyle is going to turn his ire on his wife. Up to the point where Summer knew the truth, Kyle could let it go that she suspected his mother. Because Phyllis set this up carefully with Jeremy to definitely make it look like Diane did it.

So it’s natural that Summer would suspect her because of the thorough job they did with the setup. However, once Kyle finds out Summer knew the truth, that’s the line where he stops understanding and forgiving.

Kyle Can’t Forgive His Wife

Because if it’s a choice between his mom being in jail for something she didn’t do and her mom going to jail for something she did do. The math is pretty simple for Kyle. Phyllis should be in jail, and Diane should be out. We have a person who is guilty of crimes and a person who is not guilty of crimes.

Now, of course, Diane faked her death, and she did some crimes decades ago, but she’s put her life back together, and the idea of her sitting in jail on false charges right now being karma for that is problematic. Because Phyllis has done a million things in her past that deserve jail time.

So these scales of justice are tilting all over the place. The bottom line is if Phyllis doesn’t come clean if Summer doesn’t come clean and reveal what her mother has done, it seems like her marriage is doomed.
