Welcome to Plathville star Kim Plath moved her home headquarters into the city’s suburbs so she is just “down the street” from her kids. As the new season rolls out, the family scatters. But the Welcome to Plathville matriarch claims she’s at the ready to be there if needed.
Several of these blue-eyed, blond-haired family members dispersed into three separate homes. The family who likes their isolation now moves out of the home that kept them away from it all. Now everyone has neighbors.
Welcome to Plathville: Kim Plath Clips Wings
If the Welcome to Plathville fans learned anything last season, they discovered that Kim Plath pretty much lives for her kids. Viewers also watched a mom who kept a tight rein on her offspring.
It seems the TLC cameras got there just in time to film the hoopla for the second season. Although the kids demonstrated a bit of rebellion in the first season, this season they go a bit further. Ethan Plath, 22, and his wife Olivia Plath, 21, live in their own home as they did in Season 1.
Now Moriah, 18, and Micah,19, share a home away from their parents. At one point Kim didn’t want Micah or his sister Moriah to visit with Olivia and Ethan without his parents present. But this is just the tip of the iceberg as to why Micah and Moriah moved out and rented their own house to share.
Micah wasn’t allowed around his younger siblings unless his Welcome to Plathville mom or dad chaperoned. That’s because of his lifestyle. It seems Micah went from a shy young man to a model who is comfortable today with his own body. His steamy poses don’t meet with mom’s approval.
From Bad to ‘Toxic’
This season, Ethan’s wife, Olivia Meggs Plath, calls the situation “toxic” as it got to the point where Ethan and Olivia needed to sever ties with his parents. There’s only one of the Welcome to Plathville kids that’s not enmeshed in this saga.
That’s Hosanna Plath-Nobel, 21, who is married to Timothy Nobel. Hosanna is a violinist and away most of the time on tour with her pianist husband.
That leaves Ethan, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, 16, Isaac, 14, Amber, 11, Cassia, 9, and Mercy, 7 on the episodes. Because they all grew up so close, Ethan loves spending time with his siblings. Olivia loves having her husband’s siblings in her life as well. But Kim makes this very hard for them and it seems to stem from her dislike of Olivia.
Ethan and Olivia’s home is closer to town, so Micah and his sister Moriah rented a house not far from their brother and his wife’s place. But that’s not the end of this family chess game when it comes to strategic moves.
Now Barry and Kim Plath relocated nearby as well to keep an eye on things. In the video below, Ethan claims his Welcome to Plathville parents now live only 0.3 miles away from him.
Welcome to Plathville: Reality Hits Hard?
It seems Kim Plath waits down the street from Moriah and her brother Micah. She said in a recent interview that she’s there if the kids need her.
Part of the problem with the Welcome to Plathville siblings is their lack of experience in the real world. Moriah and her sibling Micah spread their wings to fly on their own. But they’ve found they lack a few important feathers needed to navigate in the real world.
Kim Plath kept the family so far away from the real world that the brother and sister duo seem unprepared. Evidence of their housekeeping skills appears in the video above.
But Kim holds out hope that the family will come together somehow. Both Kim Plath and her husband Barry ask their kids for forgiveness this season. That scene, along with Moriah’s shocking response appears in the video above. Welcome to Plathville Season 2 rolls out November 10 on TLC.
