Now as their second season airs this week, this controversial family hits the screen with many unanswered questions. The first Welcome to Plathville season showed an isolated family who homeschooled their kids. Far away from neighbors, the Plath family seemed happy with very little interference from the outside world.

The Welcome to Plathville family dynamics became easy to follow. Thanks to the interaction between the parents, Barry and Kim Plath, with their kids, fans pegged Kim as the leader of the pack.

Kim Plath restricted just about everything from her kids. From sugar to any type of technology they weren’t allowed much of it. This is a far cry from the way Kim herself grew up, as she sewed her wild oats as a teen.

Now with the news surfacing that seven of her nine kids may have went without birth certificates, it only strengthens fans’ theories about Kim’s controlling tendencies.

Without birth certificates, most kids can’t enroll in school and get a jobs when old enough. It makes it hard to even get married when of age.

According to an unconfirmed report, the Welcome to Plathville mom and dad hid the existence of their youngest seven from the government. According to reports, the State of Georgia had no records of their birth.

Barry Plath is referred to as a “hen-pecked husband” in reviews of the show. Other reports suggest he just oblivious to what all these restrictions do to the kids.

Welcome to Plathville daughter, Moriah Plath, explains how these restrictions put a damper on her life. Now that she and her brother Micah rented their own place, things change.

Welcome to Plathville: A House and Family Turned Upside Down

When the new season of Welcome to Plathville rolls out on Tuesday night it looks a bit different. Ethan Plath and his wife Olivia severed ties with Kim and Barry. But the previews show how the parents picked up and moved within a mile of Ethan and Olivia’s home.

Micah Plath and Moriah Plath had enough as well of all the restrictions. They moved out like their brother Ethan, who lives away from the family with his wife Olivia.

So, Moriah and Micah fly the coop just like their sibling Ethan when the season begins. Now with four family members living within a mile of Kim and her husband, they are even more estranged from each other.

This coming season the temperature is boiling and steamy hot for Micah with his new modeling job. Within the first few episodes, Moriah heads out on her first date ever.

So, it looks like the family that Kim once neatly tucked under her wings breaks free. They start to fly the nest, with some not looking back. Now that they have their birth certificates they can work and get driver licenses.

Plus they can do many other things they couldn’t do before. Season 2 of Welcome to Plathville premieres Tuesday, November 10 on TLC.
