‘Sister Wives’: Meri Brown Drops Hint On Fate Of Show – Canceled Or Renewed?

Sister Wives star Meri Brown dropped a hint for the fans who wondered if the show is canceled or if it has enough life left to be renewed. Since Meri stays in touch with the fans of the show, she’s the Sister Wives spouse that many follow. While news of a show renewal or cancelation usually first comes directly from most networks, it does not in this case.

Sister Wives: Meri Brown Takes A Turn?

Over the past few years as Sister Wives fans waited to hear whether or not the show is renewed or canceled they got their answer from a Brown family member. TLC does make the official announcement on the show’s fate but it’s like last minute.

The network doesn’t give much of a head’s up each year when they’ve renewed the series. For the last several seasons, people waited to hear if Meri Brown and her large Sister Wives family were canceled or if TLC planned to bring them back.

Sister Wives: Meri Brown

TLC offered up the info but they did this just a few weeks before the new season started. So, that doesn’t give the fans much notice. But it looks as if the family members took the network’s announcement into their own hands and offered it up a lot sooner. Maybe it’s Meri’s turn this time around or maybe it was unintentional.

Kody Brown Sweat Out Cancelation A While Back

Meri Brown is not usually the one who offers up the first clue to a Sister Wives renewal. But over the last several seasons, other Brown family members offered up the news in passing. Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Madison Brown Brush gave hints about the show’s renewal for past seasons.

But the show didn’t always make renewal status after every season. It seems TLC put Sister Wives on the chopping block after Season 11. The ratings tanked and it looked as if the show was running on empty.  But Kody made a desperate move attempting to get the network to change its mind. Each Sister Wives spouse took home a salary of $180K per season.

So, this was just south of a million bucks coming into the Sister Wives’ household. But to keep the show on the air, Kody offered to let go of four of those salaries and the adults took only one salary combined. It worked because that was several seasons ago and they are still on the tube. But hopefully, their salaries have risen since then.

Sister Wives: Just A Chat

The first wife of Kody Brown has a little side gig with her best friend Jen Sullivan. They call it Friday With Friends. Both Meri and Jen get online at the same time, usually from different locations. Although a few times they’ve been together at the same place and did this while sitting side-by-side instead of using a split-screen.

The two friends answer questions from fans and talk about anything and nothing, as Meri puts it. So, Meri settled down in front of the camera last Friday night and waited for Jen to sign on. This is the same scenario every week. But this time she offered up a little disclaimer.

Meri Drops Hint – Intentional or Unintentional?

Meri wanted the Sister Wives fans to know they are welcome. But if they tuned in to hear some news about the family or some quips about any of the Sister Wives family members then they’ve come to the wrong place. That’s not going to happen here.  This is when Meri Brown dropped the hint that the Sister Wives series is still under contract.

She let the fans know that she can’t say much about daily life where the family is concerned. That is because her contract won’t let her. There you have it, Meri Brown is under contract to keep things quiet. This can only mean TLC plans a new Sister Wives season. For a nostalgic look at the origins of the show, check out the video above.

So, when can fans expect a new season of Sister Wives to roll out? More than likely that won’t be until January. Years ago the show would roll out a new season in just about any given month. But it seems they’ve fallen into a pattern in recent years with January usually being the release month. But last year they pushed it back just a wee bit, to the second week in February. So, fans can probably look for another season of the TLC series sometime around the beginning of the year.
