Ontreon Shannon tested positive for COVID-19. The CDC says overweight patients are three times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID. Recently, he shared that he felt good after he woke up.
He wasn’t the only TLC celeb that caught the virus either. Tammy Slaton from 1000-lb Sisters also was sick with it last year. But Ontreon shared some other sad news. He said that he caught the virus after trying to better himself.
Then, he said this happened while “the truth” was “altered” for news. Yet, he didn’t go into any more detail about this. It’s a very strange thing to say. The good news is that he seems to be on the track to recovery now.
Denied Surgery on My 600-Lb Life
On My 600-lb Life, Ontreon Shannon realized he didn’t have a lot of time left. In 2014, he dropped 300 pounds and focused on his health. But his success didn’t last long. He lost a loved one due to heart problems.
This caused him to spiral with his weight and gain all the weight back. So, he decided to get help from Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. Ontreon and Dr. Now created a diet plan. But Ontreon didn’t follow the plan strictly.
Ontreon calls his wife Nothabo, Musa. FYI: Musa means grace / Mercy.

He visited Dr. Paradise, a therapist, to help him figure out the reasons behind his food choices. While he did achieve some self-discovery, he didn’t change his habits on My 600-Lb Life.
At his last appointment with Dr. Nowzaradan, Ontreon had gained weight. So, he never received weight loss surgery. Instead, Dr. Nowzaradan removed him from his care.
This wasn’t the only doc to remove Ontreon from medical care. On the TLC show, he shared that he was removed from his cardiologist’s care. This was because of the condition of his heart.
He’s on 14 different medications to manage the health complications he has because of his weight.
Where Is Ontreon Now?
Despite the COVID-19 diagnosis, Ontreon Shannon from My 600-lb Life still has hope. But where is he now? He changed up his looks slightly from when he’s on air.
Instead of the semi-bare face, he sported before, he now has some facial hair. Plus, he’s with Musa still. That’s great news since fans really liked her.
Yet, based on the selfies that he’s taken, Ontreon doesn’t look like he’s lost any more weight. Yet it seems he’s still focused on a strong relationship with God. Now, though, he doesn’t talk about his weight loss journey online.
