Is Alyssa Ellman the New Molly Duff on ‘Married at First Sight’?

Watching the new season of Married at First Sight, one standout is Alyssa Ellman, and she reminds many people of Molly Duff. The latter was on Season 6 when the Lifetime show hit Boston before. And her treatment of Jon Francetic shell shocked many viewers. Is Chris Collette on the same path?

Remember Molly Duff from MAFS Season 6 in Boston?

Viewers met Molly Duff in Boston eight seasons back on the Lifetime show. She was a commercial insurance adjuster and 25 at the time. She was matched with Jonathan Francetic, an Army veteran working in finance. They got along a little at the start of the show.

But then, Molly put up walls and withdrew from him. She went so far as to tell then-expert Dr. Jessica Griffin that his touching her made her “skin crawl”. She made it clear she was physically unattracted to him but then kept teasing and flirting with her husband.

When Jon told the experts she “verbally abused” him, she denied it. Then, Molly exploded when her husband filmed one of her tirades and showed it to Dr. Jessica. She wouldn’t acknowledge calling him “f***ing disgusting”. She just raged about him taping her.

In the end, and as expected, Jon split from Molly. But many Married at First Sight viewers thought she gaslighted him. He seemed like a nice guy. And to be fair, Molly got the villain edit since reality producers seem to always choose one cast member to diss.

Alyssa Ellman Not into Husband on Married at First Sight

Now, to Season 14. They’re back to Boston — Molly Duff’s old stomping grounds. And we met Alyssa Ellman. She very specifically said that she did not want certain attributes. Alyssa said if she turns “the corner and he has snaggle teeth”, that was it.

Since her kneejerk reaction was incompatibility, it had to be physical, right? She said Chris Collete wasn’t her usual type. Alyssa said she didn’t want to be mean. But then she continued to talk about his body. And MAFS production showed him shirtless.

Alyssa Ellman cried that her mom told her to go swimming with Chris. She said she didn’t want to and was “not happy” about her mom pressuring her to go.

Will Chis Collette Get a Great Outcome Like Jon Francetic?

It seems pretty clear that Chris Collette is on Married at First Sight for the right reasons. He wants a wife, and she’s holding back talking on camera about the real problem. That feels a lot like what happened with Molly.

Chris said she wouldn’t talk to him about issues unless the cameras were gone. He said she “never put in an effort”. Alyssa insists she did and asks if he thinks she’s lying. He says “yes,” then she accused him of calling her a “f*****g liar”.

That’s a call back to the Molly days when she acted one way on camera and another when they left. That’s why Jon taped her to prove to the experts she was gaslighting him. Is that what Chris needs to do now? He didn’t call her a liar. He answered her question.

Towards the end of her rant, Alyssa called it “disrespectful” that Chris told her family the truth. He repeated to them what she said about them being “incompatible”. He said he wouldn’t lie to her family, but she seemed to expect him to cover for her.

After Jon Francetic’s experience on the show, he got in a relationship. His long-term relationship is with the former expert, Dr. Jesssica Griffin. The couple is still together, and fans hope Chris gets the same happily ever after.
