Tammy Slaton’s Brand New Life Derailed on 1000-Lb Sisters

We check into Windsor Lane Rehabilitation facility with Tammy Slaton four weeks after her gastric sleeve procedure. She’s down 40 pounds already. She’s ready to start her “brand new life” and can’t wait to go to the pet store and do things others do.

It’s been a year since she checked into rehab to save her life. And Tammy’s packing her stuff to leave. She plans to rent sister Amanda Halterman’s old place. She wants to prove she can do this without being in rehab.

Two weeks later on 1000-Lb Sisters, Chris Combs and his wife Brittany Combs head to pick up Tammy. Chris says, “I’m so excited to bring that b*tch home”. It’s now six weeks post-op. But he says the eight-hour drive to the rehab facility in Ohio “sucks”.

He recalls that a year ago, they all thought she might die and is amazed by how far she’s come from rock bottom. Chris wants her to have a “normal life”. Then, he jokes about her learning how to drive.

He says, “God help us, that b*tch ever learns how to drive – she will never f***ing stay home”. And he wants her to be able to ride in a car seat instead of sitting on the floor. But then, he gets a call that changes everything. Tammy Slaton can’t come home!

Rehab Release Sidelined – Trach Infection Scares Family on TLC

Two hours into the long drive on 1000-Lb Sisters, the rehab facility called Chris Combs with terrible news. And he’s so upset he has to pull over. After processing what they told him, he calls Amy Slaton.

She says, “life without Tammy is less stressful” but they all miss her. Tammy Slaton’s little sister says, “she’s a b*tch but she’s my b*tch”. But then the call comes in from her big brother. It turns out, Tammy’s got a trach infection and needs IV antibiotics for 10 days.

She can’t come home. And Chris says “it f***ing sucks” but knows she needs to stay and get better. But this tracheostomy infection has all Tammy’s siblings worrying about how they’ll support her medical needs if she comes home on 1000-Lb Sisters.

So, the family, including Darlene Rednour, their mom, and all the siblings all get together to talk about Tammy’s care. At first, Amanda says she and Amy were going to get trained in trach care. Then, they found out that it’s a whole week of training at a hospital.

Amanda says she can’t miss work. And Misty Slaton say they don’t know how to deal with clogs in the trach or suctioning it out. Their mom says none of them are nurses to know how to do that.

They discuss that Tammy got an infection even being in the care facility with skilled workers. None of them are ready to commit to this scary task and nursing her full-time on 1000-Lb Sisters.

Tammy Blows up Chris Combs’ Phone – Rages at Family on 1000-Lb Sisters

Of course, all Tammy Slaton’s siblings know how badly she wants to come home. And this setback with her trach infection hits her hard but she still wants to come home. Then, Chris says “the b*tch has been blowing the phone up”.

Next, he says she’s being persistent and said “if that b*tch” had ever been that persistent on a diet, she’d have avoided all this. So, they agree to call Tammy while together but know she’ll be furious. They get on a FaceTime call with her.

Then, Chris jumps in and tells her that no one is trained to take care of her 24 hours a day. And they’re just not able to do it. So, he suggests a compromise on 1000-Lb Sisters. Maybe they can find a facility closer to home. Then, Tammy starts cursing at them all.

Chris tells her that she doesn’t have a choice. But Tammy insists, “I do have a f***ing choice.” She insists she’ll check herself out and take care of herself since they won’t help her. Amanda says to come home, Tammy has to have two trained caregivers.

They ask why she’s being so “hateful” to them.  But that just unhinges Tammy Slaton further and she rages with a ton of f-bombs about how hard it is to be stuck in rehab living like this.

Amy Slaton Says Tammy Might Get “Sepsis and Die”

The siblings are all frustrated with Tammy’s attitude. And Amy asks “how do you help someone who won’t “f***ing help themselves?” She wonders if her sister wants to live on the street and get her trach infected. She says she’d “get sepsis and die”.

On 1000-Lb Sisters, Chris says they need to find some medium. But Tammy refuses to either stay there or go to another facility. She says “I’m f***ing done” and hangs up on the video call. Then, a frustrated Amanda says she’s about to give “zero f**ks about that”.

And Amanda admits that Tammy probably thinks they’re being selfish. But she’s not having it and calls it “disrespectful and rude”. Amanda says her life is busy and she isn’t sitting around eating ice cream and potato chips even though her “a** looks like it”.

Then, Chris tells the family “our hands are tied”. And he wonders what’s the point of her coming home if she gets sick, reverses it all, and then “the b*tch could die”.

Amy says Tammy’s safe there and getting help and says if they bring her home, she’ll just wind up back in the nursing home. But it’s definitely reached a boiling point for the Slatons and their siblings on 1000-Lb Sisters. 

Furious Tammy Says Sisters “Played Her” on 1000-Lb Sisters

Back in Ohio at the rehab facility, Tammy Slaton sits outside in the sun. She says she only wanted to stay there long enough to get the surgery. Then, she thought she’d get to come home right away.

But now, Tammy says Amy and Amanda “played me”. She says they agreed to get trach training and then “they backed out on me”. She says she has no one else that can train to care for it for her. Finally, she admits it’s best to stay in rehab until the trach’s out.

Rather than backtracking as she has so often on 1000-Lb Sisters, Tammy decides to try even harder. But she’s still upset and says if her family wants to be in her life, they have to listen to her.

She wants respect and says she deserves it. And Tammy adds, “I know I can be a b*tch”. Then, she cries and says it hurt and “struck me to the core”. She never thought they’d “hurt her that bad”.

This all filmed late last year. Now, Tammy Slaton is out of rehab and is finally back home. But that’s a recent change for her. So, she remained at the facility for months after this episode taped.
