‘1000-lb Sisters’: Chris Combs Gets Emergency Surgery
1000-lb Sisters star Chris Combs talks to fans about a serious issue in his life. And, it could possibly throw him off course from losing weight.
1000-lb Sisters: Chris Combs Wants to Make a Change
1000-lb Sisters star Chris Combs is joining his sisters Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton on their weight loss journeys. All three of the siblings are overweight and want to try and get weight loss surgery so they can lead healthier lives. After Amy had gastric sleeve surgery done in Season 1, but Tammy was left to try and lose weight on her own. Then, big brother Chris stepped up and decided he would take on the challenge with Tammy.
Chris and Tammy took on their weight issues by exercising and dieting together. This was especially hard for him because he manages a fast-food restaurant and is always around temptation. But when Tammy failed, he succeeded. There was only one issue. He proved he could lose the weight, but could he stop smoking? Doctors from 1000-lb Sisters tell him that if he doesn’t stop, he will not be able to get weight loss surgery.
TLC Star Tries to Quit
1000-lb Sisters’ Chris Combs is trying to take his smoking addiction head-on, but it may be harder than losing weight. At some point, Amy Slaton, Tammy Slaton, and Chris have all taken up smoking, and it’s bad for their health. Even Amy was seen with a cigarette in hand while filming for Season 3. For Chris, this is a life or death situation. Not only can smoking cause cancer and shorten his life span, but if he were to get a gastric sleeve surgery, it could cause infection.

Not only is smoking dangerous, but his weight is too. He lost weight when he first started his journey on 1000-lb Sisters, but he is still too heavy. Because of his health conditions and decisions, he is at risk to have a heart attack or stroke. But so far, it looks like he may be on the way to being smoke-free. But, now he has something else to be concerned about.
1000-lb Sisters: Slice and Dice for Chris
Chris Combs from 1000-lb Sisters tells his sister Amy Slaton that he had to go in for emergency surgery. He had a boil on his inner thigh that was so dangerous it had to be removed. Soap Dirt reports he says when a person is large, they can get yeast infections under their skin folds. And that can create boils.
Chris is recovering from his surgery, but not without a few setbacks in his weight loss journey. He opens up to Amy from 1000-lb Sisters and tells her that he gained forty pounds from not being able to walk. But he also says that he is back on track with his diet and exercise so that he can be his healthiest self. Hopefully, he will achieve his goals and get the weight loss surgery too.
