‘Young and the Restless’ Comings & Goings: Robert Newman is Ashland Locke Recast
Young and the Restless coming and goings show Robert Newman is the new Ashland Locke on the CBS soap opera. He replaces will replace Richard Burgi in coming weeks. The news comes as a surprise. Rumors hinted Burgi signed a new contract recently. But he confirmed his departure from Y&R this weekend.

Long-time soap legend Robert Newman is the new Ashland Locke according to Soap Digest sources. Robert is best known for his portrayal of Josh Lewis on Guiding Light. He played that character for over 10 years. So, he was Reva Shayne’s one true love on that daytime drama.
Robert also had short-term appearances on both General Hospital and Santa Barbara. But now, he takes on the task of playing Ashland Locke. Maybe he’ll make more of The Locke Ness monster he’s said to be. Now, on Young and the Restless, Newman could bring out the sinister side of Ash. It’s been hinted but never completely explored.

Robert Newman will first appear in the role of Ashland in February. Still, Ashland and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) are still adjusting to married life. So Young and the Restless fans recall that the pair married in an elaborate ceremony last year. Newman replaces Richard Burgi who’s wrapped his run.
Richard Burgi Out on Y&R
Days ago, Richard Burgi announced that his run on Young and the Restless ended. He thanked that cast and crew in a heartfelt message on social media. Dick was very professional and offered praise in his post. But his wife took a more direct approach.
She said Burgi was axed from Young and the Restless. She blamed the writers for her husband’s departure from the soap opera. Liliana Lopez indicates that it was not Richard’s choice to leave. Her post shows she and Richard are not happy with this move at all.
Young and the Restless News: Astoria Lives On
Fans found this news shocking. Several suggested an online petition could save Ashland Locke from the chopping block. So, speculation about how Ashland would leave Young and the Restless ran the gamut. From a quick death due to lung cancer to an ugly divorce.
Now we know Ashland Locke will remain in Genoa City. So, prepare to see Victoria and her new husband continue to make waves on Young and the Restless. And that means he’ll likely survive his cancer. But he’ll just have a new face. And it’s a drastically different one at that.
