Young and the Restless Comings & Goings: Richard Burgi Out as Ashland Locke
Richard Burgi announced he’s leaving Y&R. He said he’ll exit as Ashland Locke, and thanked fans. Burgi said he appreciates their support. Then, he stated that he is “moving on from the show.” The Ashland actor praised the cast and crew of the daytime drama.
But, he did not state why or how Ashland Locke would leave Genoa City. Burgi also did not share his last airdate on Young and the Restless. His departure seems sudden. The businessman has become an essential part of the scene in Genoa City. Plus, Ashland’s cancer was improving. And he seemed happy wed to Vikki.

Ash’s marriage to Victoria Newman happened with grand fanfare. The couple’s wedding took place in Tuscany. The soap built elaborate sets for the event. The ceremony was a who’s who of Young and the Restless’s most elite families. The event was a several-day affair and a fan-favorite episode. So, why is he suddenly leaving?
Ashland Dies on Y&R?
While Richard Burgi was scant on details in his announcement, we have to wonder. Recently, Ashland Locke offered a health update on Young and the Restless. Sill, the most obvious exit for Ashland is the lung cancer that plagued the character for months. However, the Locke Ness Monster said his experimental treatment in Peru was successful.
So, his health could take a turn for the worse. Ashland’s death would be the easiest way to write him off Young and the Restless. Yet, recent spoilers hint he still has a dark secret he has been hiding from his wife. This new information could blow apart the marriage. So, he may survive although his wife might be ready to kill him.

So, if something else about his past emerges, Victoria could end the marriage. Recall, Ashland’s prior secrets involved illegal antics.
So, more of that could end “Astoria”. Young and the Restless scoops hint it will be something big that sends Ashland packing. Either way, Victoria feels deeply affected by this latest development. Burgi’s first episode as Ashland was March 2021. So, he may wrap his run a year from then. But it seems he’s done filming at Y&R.
