What We Know So Far About ‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Season 5 – Tammy & Amy Back for More?

1000-Lb Sisters fans soaked up the Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton drama in Season 4 but are also curious about whether Season 5 is coming. Here’s the latest on the TLC series and what’s ahead.

1000-Lb Sisters Season Finale: Tammy & Amy are Not the Slaton Sisters Anymore

If you didn’t know it the most recent episode of the TLC show was the Season 4 finale. Tammy Slaton’s wedding to Caleb Willingham served as the season-ender. There was a ton of change for both her and Amy Slaton this season.

It seems like 1000-Lb Sisters Season 4 just began and the 10 episodes passed quickly. The primary focus for Amy was the impending birth of her second son, Glenn Halterman. And of course, she dealt with Michael Halterman’s COVID ban from the birth room.

As for Tammy, she thrilled fans by shedding enough weight to get her gastric sleeve surgery. Then, we saw her melting before our eyes as the weight came off. And love came into her life in the form of Caleb Willingham, another patient at rehab.

But as Soap Dirt exclusively reported, the wedding shown on 1000-Lb Sisters was not legally binding. They didn’t even get their marriage license until a day after production taped the wedding at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Ohio.

At the time, Amy lamented that they “were the Slaton sisters” but now Tammy’s a Willingham and she’s a Halterman. But at the time she said it, her sister was not legally Caleb’s wife. Here’s what the cameras didn’t show…

Tammy Married Caleb Willingham Two Months After They Taped Rehab Ceremony

Now that all the episodes aired, it seems pretty clear what happened. The first episode of 1000-Lb Sisters Season 4 aired on January 17, 2023. Meanwhile, Tammy and Caleb were legally married on January 18, 2023. That’s the day after the season premiere.

The company that makes the show — Crazy Legs Productions — needs time to edit up the episodes. So, it’s our hunch that they filmed a “fake” wedding just for them to use as the season-ending episode of Season 4.

Then, the day after they taped, Caleb and Tammy applied for their marriage license from the state of Ohio (see above). But it wasn’t until two days before that license expired that they made it legal. You can see their date of marriage below, as we exclusively reported.

Given that the episode was the last of 1000-Lb Sisters S4 and the season debuted mid-January, it seems like they might have rushed out something for filming. The officiant shown on S4E10 is not the one that married them.

The officiant on their certificate (above) is Douglas Lay-Paul, who’s in his 30s. So, was this all contrived for the show? They had a real, private — and most importantly — LEGAL ceremony two months later as our documents prove. So, what about Season 5?

What We Know About 1000-Lb Sisters Season 5

The first thing to know is that TLC has not confirmed a fifth season. So, we’re still waiting for the official word from the network. One major site posted a false headline touting the 1000-Lb Sisters Season 5 premiere date.

But when you read that article, they have no information — just a fake banner to get you to read it. What we can tell you is that it’s very likely there will be another season of the TLC series.

The season-ender episode on March 21 with Amy hosting Tammy’s wedding ranked as the top cable show, just below Major League baseball. It outperformed Real Housewives, Catfish, and other cable staples.

And it’s been performing well all season long, ranking just below sports but well above other reality series. So, it seems like TLC would be crazy not to bring them back. As for a 1000-Lb Sisters Season 5 premiere date, that’s pretty easy to figure out.

Seasons 1, 2, and 4 all kicked off in January. Season 3 was an outlier, debuting two months earlier in November. But based on three past seasons debuting early in the year, we’d expect the same thing again if indeed, Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton get a season five.

What to Expect from Tammy & Amy in 1000-Lb Sisters Season 5

Season 4 left fans wanting more, especially now with confirmation that Amy Slaton’s husband, Michael Halterman, filed to divorce her in mid-March 2023. Plus, we know that Tammy Slaton’s out of rehab and living with her sister, and her sons Glenn and Gage Halterman.

In addition to the two main 1000-Lb Sisters, viewers are heavily invested in other Slaton family members too. Chris Combs’ dramatic weight loss and desire to get skin-removal surgery could be a huge plot point in S5.

And there’s Amanda Halterman’s divorce drama. Plus, there’s the life-changing event of seeing Tammy graduate from rehab and come home to Kentucky. That’ll raise questions about how she navigates marriage with her husband still in rehab.

Plus, we’d see Amy Slaton dealing with divorce and being a single mom to two kids under the age of three. There’s plenty of storylines for her and Tammy Slaton for 1000-Lb Sisters Season 5, so we’re pretty confident it’ll be renewed. If so, will you watch it on TLC?
