What happened to Elizabeth Webber on General Hospital — clearly Rebecca Herbst‘s character is in some distress. Demons are lurking from her past that haven’t come out yet. But with her boyfriend poking around, it’s all sure to come out on GH on ABC daytime.
What Happened to Elizabeth on General Hospital?
Elizabeth Webber’s increasingly unglued and seeing things around GH. She just had an episode and cut her hand open, crushing a specimen tube. Then, she hallucinated tripping down the same stairs where Peter August (Wes Ramsey) almost died.
So, what happened to Liz on General Hospital? This is more than delayed grief over losing Franco (Roger Howarth). And it’s about more than a few sleeping pills causing a bad reaction. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) is worried sick over her.
And he’s not willing to be brushed aside. Already, he reached out to Sarah Webber with questions. It’s too bad that Liz Webber saw his phone ring with Sarah’s return call. Now, she’s angry. But, Sarah might have the answers he needs about Elizabeth.
Is this some sort of childhood trauma coming back to haunt Elizabeth? Remember, there was one major trauma revealed already. Liz was raped as a teenager and finally got to confront her rapist before his brother killed the pervert on General Hospital.
Liz Webber’s Got a Troubled Past Already on GH
Aside from the sexual assault when she was a teen, Elizabeth hasn’t had the easiest life. She lived in her big sister Sarah’s shadow. And she suffered the “death” of Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson).
Plus, her son Jake Webber also “died”. Recall, his granddad Luke Spencer (Tony Geary), ran him down. Years later, her son returned to her life. But that didn’t erase the trauma of losing him years prior.

So, what is it that’s lurking and causing Liz these breakdown moments she’s experiencing on General Hospital? Does she have more undiscovered trauma in her past? Did Elizabeth forget some horrific incident from her past?
Given her parents’ constant absence from her life, it might be something they know about. Could they be avoiding her so that they don’t trigger her memories of this event? Her talk with Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner) triggered her recently.
Will Elizabeth Webber’s Family Finally Show up on General Hospital?
One big question from fans is always – why doesn’t Liz’s family ever show up? Rumors say her newest sister, Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig), might return at some point. And it’s been years since we’ve seen her big sister, Sarah Webber.
She’s also got parents Carolyn and Jeff Webber, who live abroad working as doctors for a relief organization. Plus, on General Hospital, there’s her half-brother, Steve Webber, the son of Jeff and psycho Heather Webber (Robin Mattson).
Could it be that at long last, the Webbers come to Port Charles to help Elizabeth Webber cope with this crisis? A short stint in Shadybrooke didn’t help. So, whatever is wrong with Liz is something more deeply embedded inside her.
The staircase at GH seems to be a trigger. After all, with parents and grandparents that were doctors, she was at the medical facility a lot. She had a flashback of her telling someone to stay away from her father. Was it someone her dad cheated with on GH?
