What Did Max Do to Abby on ‘Young and the Restless’?
Young and the Restless brought up Max Rayburn (Jared Breeze) in a talk with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) about why Ben Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) went off the deep end. But what did the kid do? While she said she didn’t blame Stitch, this backstory is awful on Y&R.
Who is Max Rayburn on Young and the Restless?
Max is the son of Ben and his first wife, Jenna Kieran (Stephanie Lemelin). Technically, the kid’s name was Max Kieran since his mother gave him her maiden name after cutting Stitch out of their son’s life. But she died, and her son arrived in Genoa City in 2016.
On Young and the Restless, Jenna’s death seemed very avoidable. She was on her cell phone while driving. And she was arguing with Abby Newman at the time. Back then, the Newman heiress was Ben’s fiancée and wanted Jenna to let Max Rayburn fly to the US to attend their wedding.
Of course, Abby had the best of intentions. But that fatal phone call set the stage on Young and the Restless for some truly terrible things to come from wicked little Max. From the jump, he despised his stepmom and blamed her for losing his mom on Young and the Restless.
The Kid Sabotaged Stitch & Abby Newman’s Marriage Constantly on Y&R
Max Rayburn missed his mom and hated stepmother on Young and the Restless. So, the antics began. And since he was a child – and just lost his mother, Stitch always put the boy before his new marriage to Abby Newman. And she really tried to bond with her stepchild.
At one point, Max Rayburn and his father even moved into the GCAC and away from the family home. Every gesture Abby made, he threw back in her face. He guilt tripped and manipulated his dad at every turn. But, on Young and the Restless, Stitch wanted to believe the best of his boy.
And since he’d missed so much time with him, it was easy for the kiddo to manipulate his dad. But after the kid walked in on Ben and Abby in bed, Stitch had enough. He told Max Rayburn they were moving back home with his wife to be a family. Then on Young and the Restless, they found out Abby was pregnant, and Max turned completely diabolical.
What Max Did to Abby on Young and the Restless
Young and the Restless viewers saw Max Rayburn obsessed with physically harming pregnant Abby Newman. Her stepson terrified her when when she had pains during her pregnancy and tormented her before he finally called for help. After that, she knows her stepchild was “off” but Ben still wouldn’t see it. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) did and warned his son-in-law, though.
The tween made his big move at the baby shower on Young and the Restless. He set up a tripwire at the top of the large staircase at the GCAC. And down she fell. Not only did Abby Newman lose her baby, but that’s the reason she can never get pregnant again. But he wasn’t done. He overheard chatter that someone found the wire and were going to review the video.
So, he set a fire to destroy the footage. Ultimately, he was cornered and confessed then committed. At the psych facility, he got surgery for a brain tumor that was making him act out. That led to complications that sent him to long term care. It was the beginning of the end for Stitch and Abby Newman. We may hear more on Max’s fate after the police catch Ben – who’s the kidnapper – but ran off on Y&R.
