‘Welcome to Plathville’: Olivia Plath Scared to Confront Ethan’s Parents
Welcome to Plathville wife Olivia Plath wants closure with Ethan Plath‘s parents after years of acrimony between her and devoutly religious Kim and Barry Plath. As the third season of the TLC show wraps, will there be a deeper fight between them — or can they part on good terms?
Olivia Plath & Ethan Plath Reunite on Welcome to Plathville
It’s been a rough few months with Ethan Plath and his spouse Olivia Plath. As viewers saw, his wedding photographer wife moved out of their home. They’ve also attended marriage counseling with mixed results. Later, he put their house in Cairo, Georgia up for sale as their life plans changed.
After coping with the controlling ways of Barry and Kim Plath, Olivia was ready to take a step away from the family on Welcome to Plathville. So, she wanted to move away from his family and start fresh somewhere else. But Ethan Plath didn’t take that well and they’ve been at odds over her demands.

When he didn’t agree initially, Olivia moved out, saying she’s hopeful they would “grow” as individuals. However, on Welcome to Plathville, Ethan’s spouse also said she hoped they’d get back together. On the most recent TLC episode, they did just that and even checked into a hotel to spend the night together.
TLC’s Olivia Scared to Confront In-Laws – But Determined
As season 3 of Welcome to Plathville winds down, Ethan Plath is back with Olivia Plath and ready to relocate away from their uber-conservative small town in South GA. In fact, he’d decided to leave his hometown, even if he and his wife didn’t work out their marriage woes. But, they did and now they’ve sold the house.
Before they go, though, Olivia says she wants closure. On Welcome to Plathville, she says she’ll “make things right on my end” even if Kim and husband Barry Plath don’t see eye-to-eye with her. However, Ethan cautioned her that it might blow up. He also warned it could “get out of hand”.

Olivia tells her husband that she needs to overcome her fear of his folks and do this before they leave. So, the season finale of Welcome to Plathville features what could be another epic showdown. Remember how bad things got with Ethan and dad Barry at the end of season 2? Will it be that bad?
Ethan’s Happy to Let Sleeping Dogs Lie on Welcome to Plathville
As for Ethan Plath. he said he’s “good to leave things as they are” and seems content to leave Cairo without any exit drama. But, he supports his wife and told Olivia Plath he will be there if she wants. But said she should watch her back when dealing with his parents.
In Season 1 of Welcome to Plathville, we saw Olivia tell the family matriarch and patriarch that she “felt controlled” by Barry and his wife Kim “from day one”. She felt judged and said she won’t “change as a person”. Ethan’s parents saw her as a bad influence and cut them out of family gatherings.
Last year, Ethan wanted to say goodbye to his younger siblings before he walked away from them on Welcome to Plathville. However, Kim was roadblocking, then blaming Barry. But he told his mom she’s the “neck that turns his [Barry’s] head”. That confrontation between Ethan and Barry got physical and left fans hanging at the season’s end.
Soap Dirt revealed that Barry regretted how it went down. So, will we see a similar scene this year, only with Kim and Olivia Plath on Welcome to Plathville? Olivia doesn’t want “an argument or debate”, just closure. Can she conquer her fears and face her in-laws? As TLC closes this season, it’s a chance for peace among the family.
