‘Welcome to Plathville’ Season 3: Tearful Ethan Says He’s ‘Done’ with Parents
Welcome to Plathville Season 3 brings back Ethan Plath and his wife Olivia Plath and they’re no closer to reconciling with his parents. In fact, Barry Plath and Kim Plath frustrate their son so much that he’s in tears at their antics, in a clip for the new season of the TLC show.
When is Welcome to Plathville Season 3 Premiere Date?
The hit reality series is back on TLC starting Tuesday, August 24, 2021. So that’s just over 50 days to wait to see the family back on your screen. They return with Olivia and Ethan Plath no closer to making peace with his dad than when last season ended.
You may recall as Welcome to Plathville Season 2 wrapped, the final episodes had a physical confrontation between Barry and Ethan. In the season finale, Ethan and the family patriarch nearly came to blows. And it was about Ethan’s wife, Olivia Plath.

Ethan finally confronted his folks about their shabby treatment of his spouse. Then, he said farewell to his younger siblings. Ethan Plath went to his parents house, upset about not being able to see his younger brother and sisters.
Season 2 Ended with an Almost Fistfight Between Father and Son
As Olivia watched from their car, Ethan then confronted his parents at their door, telling them he and Olivia were moving away from Cairo, Georgia. On Welcome to Plathville, he told them he loved his wife and didn’t understand the way they spoke to her.
Then, Ethan said by not accepting Olivia, they don’t get to have him in their lives either. When his dad apologized, Ethan said it was only because cameras were there. After the physical showdown over Olivia, Ethan Plath told his wife they “just have each other” and they left.
Reportedly, Olivia didn’t want to come back for another round of reality TV at all. And that would have meant no season 3 of Welcome to Plathville at all. But she relented as that was the only way the network would renew their family-centric show.
So what’s in store for season 3 with the conservative family? People first released a trailer, then TLC let it loose. You can watch it below. It offers a few glimpses at what’s ahead. It looks like a lot of it centers once again on the friction between the patriarch, matriarch, their oldest son, and daughter-in-law.
What’s Next for Ethan Plath & Olivia on TLC?
Now, Ethan and the rest of his extensive family are all back for another round. His mother Kim seems to blame her oldest son as she says Ethan and his wife have their “heels dug in against” her and Barry. But if you look back, he blames them dissing Olivia.
And once again, teen sister Lydia Plath functions as a go-between and is uncomfortable in the role. The family tension looks like it comes to a head at a performance by Moriah Plath where some of her siblings play back-up on Welcome to Plathville.
Ethan Plath is there and wasn’t expecting their parents to pop-up. When he sees Kim show up in the crowd, he calls her “sneaky”. However, Olivia seems willing to open some peacemaking dialog and encourages her husband and his brother, Micah Plath to talk to their mom.
But this scene might not go well, as the next part of the Welcome to Plathville promo shows a crying Ethan Plath in a confessional telling Olivia that he’s “so done with all this.” That doesn’t bode well for a happy ending for him and his parents.
