But, these days, Teen Mom Amber Portwood reveals that the changes she has been choosing to make are starting to affect her life more positively. But unfortunately, Portwood reveals that her relationships with her children have suffered from her poor choices.
However, things are finally starting to look up between Amber and her 13-year-old daughter Leah Shirley.
Teen Mom fans are aware that it looked as if they would never repair their broken relationship last year. Portwood admits that it was a tough pill to swallow, knowing that her daughter wanted nothing to do with her.
Thankfully they are starting to have that mother/daughter relationship that Amber has been craving for years per.
Amber Reveals Her Bond with Leah Shirley Is Growing Strong
So, what has changed? Amber claims that she feels that giving Leah the space she needed to work through things has made all the difference.
Portwood explains that she and Leah are no longer the way people believe them to be. The Teen Mom star reveals Leah needed time to process and learn to cope with everything from her past.
Portwood also reveals that having an honest and open dialogue with her daughter has helped their healing process. She claims one day, things just began to come together.
She details having long heart-to-heart conversations with her daughter. Finally, Amber reveals Leah stated to her, “I will never judge you.”
The MTV reality television star claims that was the breakthrough she had been waiting for. Amber says that she and Leah are bonding more and more every day.
The mother of two admits that her daughter is brilliant and beautiful. She also acknowledged that she would use her lessons from her past to teach her children what not to do.
Family Now Comes First for The Teen Mom Star
Amber Portwood feels that she is a very different person now and understands that real love starts with her family. She also claims that she and Leah’s dad, Gary Shirley, are now great friends.
She adds that she and Gary’s wife get along great now, and they have this whole blended family vibe going between them.

The Teen Mom star claims that their relationships are so good that her son James also considers them family. One thing Amber Portwood claims is now crucial to her is keeping their family bond intact.
She adds that when she gets into a new relationship, one thing is very clear her partner will have to be okay with their blended family bonds.
