‘Sister Wives’: Meri in Toss-Up for Kody’s Favorite Wife on Next Episode

Sister Wives star Kody Brown said harsh stuff about Meri Brown in the past, so this week on the TLC show, it looks like he’ll leave fans scratching their heads. He seems to do a complete turnaround. Now it almost sounds like Robyn Brown has some competition these days as Kody’s favorite wife.

Sister Wives: Kody Brown Mows Down Meri Brown

It wasn’t all that long ago that Kody Brown said some humiliating things about Meri Brown and their marriage. He claimed she tricked him into marrying him in the first place. But this season, she talked about the beginning of this polygamous family.

Long before the Sister Wives show was even a thought, Meri and Kody brought Janelle Brown into the family as the start of their plural marriage.

This season, the first wife said very seriously that her husband loved her very much back when they started to build their plural marriage. But Kody’s trip down memory lane sounded like the polar opposite.

Much of his rather brutal dissing of Meri came during a therapy session the two attended a few seasons back. Meri said her shared husband blindsided her with what he said. She couldn’t imagine where all of it was coming from at the time.

Despite fans flooding the social media sites pleading with the Sister Wives’ first wife to leave, she stayed. But it looks like Meri Brown opting to stay may have worked for her future goal. That’s winning Kody back over.

Meri Remains Rather Quiet

Today Meri seems quieter than usual as Season 17 rolls along. The Sister Wives’ patriarch is up to his ears in family problems. After one wife left him, now another sounds as if she doesn’t need him too much anymore.

In this week’s episode, fans get a good glimpse at what the moms face with Kody when he deals with their adult kids. There’s a clip where Janelle attempts to level her trailer on Coyote Pass.

Kody Brown is there helping, as well as Gabriel Brown, their 21-year-old son. But instead of some constructive father-son time, it turns out awful. Kody puts him down like he’s a rival vying for Janelle’s attention.

He goes on and on about Gabriel not knowing what he’s doing. It gets to the point that he sounds like a teenager himself. Then Kody takes off on a four-day trip, driving to Oklahoma to officiate a friend’s wedding.

Christine Brown’s daughter becomes devastated that her father would do this but not go with her to her surgery. So, there are two Sister Wives brides who seem really down on Kody’s skills as a husband and as a father these days.

Meri seems to choose her words carefully, although it appears that she has very little to say. But when she does, it’s not against Kody Brown like the other two wives. Then, of course, there’s Robyn Brown. She seems to rationalize Kody Brown’s shortcomings.

One case in point is him driving a long distance to a wedding when he wouldn’t even visit the other wives’ homes due to COVID. She believes it’s good for him, the downtime lets him think things through.

Sister Wives: Did Meri Change Kody’s Mind?

Suddenly that woman who tricked this shared Sister Wives husband into marriage is held in a better light by him.  As he complains about the backlash from Christine and Janelle, he brings Meri up as a good wife example.

The shared husband clumps Meri Brown in with Robyn, as the two wives who stand behind him and what he’s doing. Meri continually said to the Sister Wives cameras throughout the last few seasons that she’s staying and trying to get back into his good-wife status.

Well, after this Sunday night’s episode you might find yourself asking if she succeeded. But now it looks like the father of 18 now has two sets of wives.

One set consists of two wives who seem to do what they want to do. Then the other set still seems to oblige Kody and his many wishes. So, it looks like Meri Brown succeeded by using her strategy of hanging in there.

Papa Brown talked nicely about her and even coupled her in with Robyn, who most believe is his favorite wife. After listening to Kody bring Meri into the conversation, it is obvious his outlook on her has changed.

So did her dream come true with her Sister Wives’ hubby? From the way that shared husband talks about Meri Brown this week on the show, it looks as if she’s back in Kody Brown’s good graces or at least close to it.

She seems to be right up there with his favorite wife when it comes to having his back.
