‘My 600-Lb Life’: When Did Lisa Ebberson’s Boyfriend Randy Die of COVID?

On the most recent My 600-Lb Life, Lisa Ebberson‘s boyfriend Randy Rempel died of COVID. But when did this happen? It was during the filming of the show. So, when did they film the TLC show and at what point did she lose him?

Lisa Ebberson’s Boyfriend Was Her Sole Caregiver

During the taping of the TLC show, Lisa Ebberson was totally bedridden. She said she’d been in the bed for nearly four years at this point. But when did this film? It appears that camera crews began taping with Lisa around February or March of 2021.

That assumption’s based on when the show said they were at when Randy Rempel died. Throughout the filming of My 600-Lb Life, we saw Randy was on oxygen. Yet he seemed to be Lisa’s sole caregiver. She tipped the scales at 637 pounds when they began.

Randy cooked her meals, bathed her, and even took care of her bathroom needs. She used an exterior catheter for her urine. But he had to take care of her solid waste needs. On My 600-Lb Life, they both admitted he was more caregiver than a boyfriend.

At times during taping, Randy struggled for breath At one point, he was having chest pains and wanted to go to the hospital. But Lisa talked him out of it and told him just to lie down. Yet, he still went all out to take care of her.

The injury above he posted on social media around the time filming began. He said he rolled off the bead and hit his head on a stand. Randy said it was the second time it happened. He shared the bed with Lisa but could be seen sleeping on an edge.

Randy Rempel Died During My 600-Lb Life Filming – What Killed Him?

In month 8 of filming with Lisa Ebberson, she and her boyfriend were both hospitalized. She said that when they were home one night, Randy collapsed. She said he lapsed into unconsciousness. Then, she called 911 for an ambulance.

Next, on My 600-Lb Life, she said they took him away and that was the last time that she saw him. She said he texted her once to tell her that he loved her. But then he died. So, Lisa never got to say goodbye.

Randy Rempel was 62 when he passed away from COVID-19. He died at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Randy died on November 18, 2021. The timeline on TLC reported this as their eighth month of monitoring Lisa.

He was cremated and no memorial service was held that we can find. Lisa posted the above to her social media page a couple of weeks after he passed. Later on the series, her therapist, Dr. Matthew Paradise urged her to get out of bed to honor his memory.

What Happened to Lisa on My 600-Lb Life?

During their time on the TLC weight loss series, Lisa relied on Randy as her enabler. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan repeatedly called them both out for it. While it’s true he fed her unhealthy things, Randy insisted if he didn’t, she’d get angry with him.

They’d been together 10 years and it was clear on the show that Randy Rempler was devoted to Lisa. In the end, COVID took his life. According to the American Heart Association, many cardiac patients are at higher risk for the virus.
