My 600-lb Life: Dolly Martinez Reveals Troubled Past & Present
Dolly Martinez admits to rocky relationships with men. She claimed her father chose “the streets” over a relationship with her. Even though she tried to repair things between her and her father as she grew older, she didn’t have much time. But, her father took his life when she was still a young adult.

Then, Dolly Martinez says when she got older, she began dating a guy that mistreated her. After she got pregnant, she and her boyfriend married. Then, she says he began to abuse her. So, her mother got custody of her daughter named Trinity. Then, Dolly went back to live with her mom, Staci.
The My 600-lb Life patient struggles with food addictions. Plus, she feels like the relationship with her mother’s strained. And she says that causes her to eat too much. Her mother Staci seems supportive but it comes out later she struggled with her weight for years too. So, she hopes bariatric surgery will make everything better.
Dr. Nowzaradan’s Patient Leaves Her Mom
After consulting with Dr. Younan Nowzaradan on My 600-lb Life, Staci pushed for Dolly to eat better. While she controlled her daughter’s portion sizes, Dolly Martinez continued to snack between meals on the TLC show. And they’re arguing over it.
So, Dolly decided she had enough of her mom’s pressure. She felt stressed out by her mom’s constant push about her diet. So, she left her mother’s house. After a night in a shelter, she moved back in with her estranged husband Ricky. Yet, things didn’t work out between her and her ex.
My 600-lb Life: Deaf & Homeless Boyfriend Helps Dolly
After Dolly Martinez left her ex, she went to a guy she’d met in her night at the shelter. Phillip seems sweet and she falls for him right away. They move into a hotel room together. They used Phillip’s disability checks to pay for the room. And they rely on food stamps too.
But, Dr. Nowzaradan doesn’t support Dolly’s decision to turn her back on her mom. At the hotel, TLC cameras caught her guzzling soda and eating sugary cereal. That’s despite her stated desire to lose weight. While Phillip and Dolly tried to find a house, it turned out to be a ratty place filled with other people. It lasted one night before they left.
In the end, Dr. Now denied Dolly Martinez for surgery. He said she wasn’t making enough progress or accepting responsibility for her life.. The doctor encourages Dolly to figure out her living situation and pursue therapy. If she loses more weight, he’ll reconsider things in a year.
