Coming up in fresh episodes, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s husband, Josh Efird, is on a mission. This season, Josh and his wifey Pumpkin are in a big, beautiful, new house with a large yard.
Indeed, this is perfect for Josh’s growing family. In the show, little Bentley Jameson Efird has not arrived yet. But we will see his birth this season. No doubt, Josh Efird and his wife Pumpkin love their new home.
However, it brings new challenges. All the kids have their own rooms — except Jessica Shannon, who’s happy bunking on the couch. Jess hopes to get her own place soon once she gets a new job.
But, it’s Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s new living space that worries Josh on Mama June: Road to Redemption. The whole finished basement belongs to Alana. She even has her own entrance. Alana is 16 years old and has her very first boyfriend, Dralin Carswell.
So, Alana having so much privacy freaks Josh Efird out. Soon, Josh pretends he is a ninja and lets Alana know that he will be watching her. And Josh is quite funny as he lays down the law with his pseudo daughter.
And later in the season, Josh embarrasses her when he meets Dralin. Josh has his work cut out for him as he juggles all the kids. And because of Mama June Shannon, the drama keeps on coming on Mama June: Road to Redemption.
June Shannon Tries to Break Free from Geno Doak on WEtv
In Season 6, Mama June finally opens up to Pumpkin. She admits that her relationship with longtime boyfriend Geno Doak is going downhill. In the last season of Mama June: Road to Redemption, Geno and newly sober June were doing well.
However, she reveals that Geno’s drinking is out of control this season. He drinks excessively and almost every day. She mentions that Geno and his buddies knock back 30-40 beers and still keep going. But, on top of that, he’s getting possessive and controlling.
Mama can’t even call Pumpkin until Geno passes out because he thinks she’s talking to someone else. And he worries that she’s trying to leave him — and he’s right. In new episodes, she calls her daughter to say she wants to leave Geno.
His court date is coming up, and Mama hopes that Geno will go to prison and that will be her way out. She fears for her safety and is afraid of what Geno will do if she leaves. So, she’s hoping the judge will take care of Geno for her.
In real-time, we know June gets away and starts seeing someone else. But, that doesn’t mean her troubles with her toxic ex are over. Plus, there are more problems to come when she goes head-to-head with her daughter on Mama June: Road to Redemption.
Mama June: Drama Ahead for Pumpkin Shannon
Pumpkin has a fight on her hands soon on Mama June: Road to Redemption. Mama gets her wish, and Geno goes to jail. Then, once she is away from him, she can focus on other things — like Alana. Soon, she wants Alana to come home with her.
But, Pumpkin loves her little sister and thinks of her as a daughter now. So, she will not give up without a fight. And soon, Pumpkin takes her mother to court, and a nasty custody battle begins. But, sadly, there is a good chance that Pumpkin could lose custody. And that would break her heart.
