Matt knows that he should’ve sat down with the twins, Zach Roloff and Jeremy Roloff, to discuss how they can keep the farm in the family.

But he thinks you are never smart enough and don’t always say the right things. Matt reveals that he only had one conversation with Zach Roloff.

The Little People, Big World reality star feels that his son came to him with demands and guarantees. However, he wasn’t able to accommodate them. So, he knows that his son is sad about it.

Matt Mistakenly Thinks Kids Would Work Together

Matt Roloff knows that he has made some mistakes along the way. However, his biggest mistake regarding the farm was continuing to think that his children could figure out how to keep the farm in the family.

But he feels that if he is going to give his children something, they should earn it. Matt feels that many people believe he told his children they would inherit the property.

However, the Little People, Big World castmate says he “never said anybody would inherit it.” Yet, he did say that he hopes to keep the land as a legacy.

Matt made a “giant assumption” which he feels is his fault. He assumed the kids could come together, work as a team, and share the business. But, he thinks everyone has different dreams, aspirations, and goals for their life.

Little People, Big World Celeb Respects Children’s Decision

Matt Roloff doesn’t blame his children for wanting to go a different path in life. However, he knows he can’t keep an expectation that is no longer valid.

Matt explains that Zach Roloff never told him he wanted a blank slate. But, the Little People, Big World star feels he did want that. He believes Zach didn’t want something his father would be “hovering.”

He thinks his son wanted to be his “own man with his own creations.” And he respects that. Moving forward, Matt plans to take a few steps back and do what he can.

He doesn’t want to dwell on something that he can’t change. However, he intends to keep trying to fix his relationship with his son. Zach Roloff now lives on his own land with his wife and kids.

He grew up experiencing things you couldn’t in the city. So, he is glad to be able to give his kids the same experiences he had growing up. He didn’t get the farm, but he feels he’s starting his own legacy on his land.
