5 Reasons Jack’s Falling for Diane on ‘Young and the Restless’

On Young and the Restless, Jack Abbott seems increasingly drawn to Diane Jenkins despite how much everyone hates seeing them together on the CBS soap opera. But there are some solid reasons he’s falling hard and could wind up with his ex on Y&R on CBS.

#1 Diane Jenkins is a Damsel in Distress on The Young and the Restless

Right now on Y&R, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) needs a protector, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) stepped fully into the role. The worst thing her rival did was bring Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) to town. Why? It intensified Jack’s protective instincts.

He’s already falling under the spell of his ex on The Young and the Restless, but seeing her helpless and tormented has brought out all his white knight instincts. So, the more danger we see Diane in, the more likely he’ll want to be her hero.

And we know how those stories end… With the damsel in the arms of her savior. So, how much longer until Jack Abbott takes Diane Jenkins to bed? He’s already holding, petting, and comforting her daily. Romance seems the next natural step.

#2 Jack Abbott Gets an Ego Boost from His Ex on Y&R

For a while, the Abbott patriarch had a wounded ego. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) stomped on it by sleeping with his brother Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). And for a long time, Red kept trying to get back with him on Young and the Restless.

But Jack Abbott finally pushed her back hard and said they would never happen again. He just can’t open his heart to her. She’s cheated, lied, schemed, and betrayed him so many times. He just can’t take it.

And then along comes Diane Jenkins. She’s still smitten with Jack and would like nothing more than to be Mrs. Abbott again. And being the object of someone’s unwavering affection must have him feeling really good after Phyllis’ repeated betrayals.

#3 Jack and Diane Share a Child on Young and Restless

Let’s not forget that Jack Abbott had two biological children that survived infancy on Young and the Restless. That’s Keemo Nguyen and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Now, Keemo’s dead.

So, he now has just one child. And that’s the one Diane Jenkins gave him. Kyle’s in a good place with his dad, and he’s happy that his mom Diane is back in town too. Kyle seems on edge at the idea of his parents getting together.

But given how protective Kyle’s been about his mom since Jeremy came to town, he might change his stance. So, the bonds of parenthood are also tugging Jack closer to Diane. And that’s something no one can break on Y&R.

#4 Diane Seems to Have Changed for Real on Y&R

Another thing that has Jack Abbott taking a second look at his ex is how much she’s changed. So far on The Young and the Restless, her changes for the better seem legitimate. And what the CBS soap displays confirm it.

Her biggest sins of the past were bedding Tucker McCall (Trevor St, John) when he was engaged to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). And, of course, faking her death and framing the women who hated her. But that’s been decades ago.

Plus, the money laundering situation was Jeremy taking advantage of her. And then Tucker used her too. So, the more recent sins of her past seem to have been Diane just scraping for survival. Jack accepts that she’s a better human now.

#5 Jack’s Been Lonely for so Long and The Young and the Restless

Last and possibly most important is that Diane returned to Young and the Restless when Jack had a gaping hole in his life. He’s been without love for far too long. He dated Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) but cut it off before it got serious.

And he and Phyllis rekindled briefly, but he couldn’t trust her. So, Jack Abbott is lonely. And Diane told him how lonely she’s been for so long too. So, they have that in common. If you add all these things up, it sure looks like they could click.

There were rumors that Diane Jenkins might leave Young and Restless. But there’s been no confirmation. And in a recent interview, Peter Bergman talked about the story of her return unfolding slowly. And it sounded like there’s lots more ahead.

What do you think? Is Diane Jenkins a good match for Jack Abbott, or should he cut things off and send her away before he gets in any deeper with her on the CBS soap opera?
