General Hospital Shocker: Marcus Coloma Out – Here’s What He Said About Firing
Recently, Marcus Coloma’s actions got rumors circling. First, Marcus unfollowed everyone on social media. Plus, he removed Nikolas Cassadine from his Instagram bio. Of course, that’s causing an uproar.
And GH fans were wondering if Marcus was done on the soap. Later, the official news broke that he was terminated from General Hospital. And Marcus will no longer be playing Nikolas Cassadine.
While it’s still unclear why Marcus Coloma was recently terminated, it appears that he didn’t take the news well. Marcus refuses to finish out his scenes as Nikolas. And his last airdate will be at the end of January 2023.
Naturally, the General Hospital fanbase wants to know what Marcus’ exit means for the character of Nikolas Cassadine. And many viewers are hoping it means the OG Nikolas will return.
We’ve got his most recent official comments in a video below. He called playing Nik an “incredible ride” and said he appreciates the GH fans so much. Plus, he said he’d be sure to keep filming fun video shorts with Maurice Benard and Kin Shriner.
Could Tyler Christopher Return as Prince Nik on GH?
As soon as word got out that Marcus was off General Hospital, folks began to wonder if Tyler Christopher would return as Nikolas. Tyler originated the part of Nikolas back in 1996. Indeed, longtime viewers would love for the original Nik to return.
It’s no secret that Tyler had his fair share of troubles. He’s struggled with alcoholism for years and that’s the reason Days of our Lives let him go.
However, Tyler turned his life around and is in a great place now. Things are going incredibly well for him. Tyler is back to acting and has several new projects under his belt.
But there doesn’t seem to be anything that would interfere with a General Hospital comeback. Of course, it’s entirely possible that Tyler will not pick back up as Nikolas. If that’s the case, the powers that be might go another route…
Returning, Recast or New Nikolas Cassadine Coming to General Hospital?
If Tyler Christopher isn’t offered the role — or doesn’t want to come back to GH — there are other options, of course. Fans will recall that Marcus Coloma was out twice recently due to Covid. And former Bold and the Beautiful star Adam Huss stepped in as Nik.
So, there’s a chance that the showrunners could bring Adam in permanently to take over. Recently, General Hospital fans thought he had great chemistry with Ava Jerome (Maura West).
So, Adam is a possibility. There’s always a possibility that Nikolas could turn up “dead” again. Or, he could disappear. However, Nik’s tangled up in several hot storylines fans hope to see play out.
If his story comes to an abrupt halt, fans will be let down. So, it makes more sense to recast the legacy General Hospital character. Of course, Tyler Christopher is an ideal option because he’s the OG Nik and many fans would love him back.
But Adam has taken to the part quite well. And he would likely be a welcome addition to GH. So, will Tyler Christopher take over for Marcus Coloma as Nikolas Cassadine on the ABC soap? We’ll have to wait and see.
