‘General Hospital’: Is Dex Sonny’s Long-Lost Son?
General Hospital’s Dex Heller seems to have a personal motive for taking down Sonny Corinthos that goes beyond his job. And recent clues hint that the mob enforcer may be the kingpin’s son on the ABC sudser.
General Hospital: Dex Heller After Sonny Corinthos
Not long ago on GH, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) came onto the scene eager to work for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). He started filling in for Chet Driscoll (Chris Van Etten) at Volonino’s Gym.
But his goal was to be part of the mob biz. From the start, he was overly ambitious to land the role of Sonny’s righthand man. And he was almost desperate to prove himself to the kingpin, recall General Hospital recaps.
Then it all started to make sense when it was revealed that Dex works for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). In order to help Michael put Sonny away for life, he had to get close to him and gain his trust.
However, for a moment, it seemed like Dex was having second thoughts about destroying the mob boss. And it looked like he might turn on Michael and side with his other boss on General Hospital.
Newbie on the Fence GH
For a while, he seemed to be softening toward Sonny Corinthos. He didn’t seem to think that the don was a monster like Michael made him out to be. Dex thought he was a good guy at heart.
But then, things took a turn when the Godfather of Port Charles thought his new hire could be The Hook Killer. So he hung his lackey from a meat hook and had him tortured for days. Indeed, he could’ve died on General Hospital.

After that, Dex Heller saw how ruthless he could be. Then, he seemed more adamant about helping Mikey send him to prison on General Hospital.
And he’s using the Pikeman Security deal to do it. But as he tries to get closer to the mafioso, clues are popping up that suggest he has more personal reasons for going after him.
New Clue Suggests Kingpin Has Another Kid on General Hospital
Mikey is the one that hired Dex, but he might’ve been set up. The newb could have put himself in Michael’s orbit to get to Sonny Corinthos. The recent scenes where he used the don’s recipe cards to make dinner for him suggest they have a history.
He has a love for cooking, just like the mob boss does. And he took an interest in his childhood. He also relates because they both had abusive childhoods. Sonny from his stepfather and Dex Heller from his brothers.
They clearly have a lot in common on GH. So, this raises the question — could he be the mobster’s kid? There’s an excellent chance that he could be the son of the kingpin’s late wife, Lily Rivera (Lily Melgar).
Did Lily’s Baby Survive on GH?
Long-time General Hospital fans will recall that Lily was pregnant with Sonny’s child when she died in a car explosion. In addition, viewers may remember that the car bomb was meant for Sonny. So it’s entirely possible that the baby survived.

He may have gone to live with Lily’s estranged family, and he didn’t have the best childhood. So, he might have resented his father for being the reason his mother died, and he had a bad upbringing. It’s possible that Dex wanted to go after his birth father for not being present in his life.
And that may be why he decided to take the job with Michael. But he saw how much Sonny loves his kids, and it seemed to make him rethink things on General Hospital. Perhaps he wanted him for a father after all.
But his torture tactics were a game changer. However, after their recent talk about their past, Dex seems to be going soft again. Indeed, if he is Sonny’s grown child, he will be torn about whether or not to help put his father in prison.
