Ethan Plath Bails out ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Cast Member DUI Perp

Welcome to Plathville star Ethan Plath just bailed out a family member who’s also been spotted on their TLC show. Just as he and his wife settled into life in Tampa, things went awry. In March, he helped a troubled co-star who’d landed in hot water with the law.

Welcome to Plathville celeb Ethan Plath went to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department to bail out Nathan Meggs, the younger brother of his wife, Olivia Plath.

Local police arrested Nathan on March 11, 2022, on DUI charges. Per reports SD obtained from the courthouse, Nathan Meggs was found nodding in and out of consciousness while behind the wheel of his car with the motor running (but not driving).

At the time of his arrest, the 19-year-old brother-in-law of Welcome to Plathville’s Ethan Plath had reportedly vomited on himself and was slurring.

The arresting officers said Meggs was cooperative. But Nathan was unsteady on his feet during the field sobriety testing and failed the breathalyzer with a .087 BAC (blood alcohol concentration). The legal max in Florida is .08, so he was just over the line.

TLC’s Nathan Meggs Lands in Hot Water After Night of Drinking

Soap Dirt obtained court documents from Hillsborough County. These revealed that Ethan Plath bailed out the Welcome to Plathville cast member (and brother-in-law) on a $500 bond.

In fact, Ethan’s name even made it into the court case (see below) because he put up the bond. The court found Meggs indigent (i.e, broke) and unable to afford counsel. So, the court allowed a public defender.

Ethan’s BIL pleaded “not guilty” in April and has a court date in July. Since this is a first-time offense, he got a lucky break. He qualifies for the Hillsborough County RIDR Program. That stands for “Reducing Impaired Driving Recidivism”.

Recidivism, if you didn’t know, is when an offender repeats the lawbreaking activity. The program’s purpose is to “target and reduce impaired driving by imposing enhanced sanctions… [for] first-time, non-aggravated DUI offenders.”

There are a few stipulations to the program. However, considering the alternative, it will mean a less harsh punishment for Ethan Plath’s brother-in-law Nathan.

While the deal may appear easy, there are some severe consequences the Welcome to Plathville star must face depending on which level of the program he falls under.

Will Nathan’s Arrest Serve as A Lesson to The Plath Family?

For TLC fans unfamiliar with Nathan, he is Olivia’s aspiring musician and model sibling. He joined the Welcome to Plathville reality series in Season 4. He is the younger brother of Ethan Plath’s wife, Olivia.

During this point in Season 4, he currently lives with Ethan and Olivia in Tampa, Florida. Last week, fans may recall seeing more of Meggs for the first time during a scene with Ethan Plath’s younger sister Moriah Plath who also lives with them.

So far, Meggs is currently the only known Plathville cast member to have been arrested. However, many fans feel that it could change at any moment.

TLC viewers say they have noticed that Ethan Plath and his brother Micah Plath appear to be doing more drinking as time goes on. Viewers are aware that Ethan and Micah are of legal drinking age.

However, they fear one of the Plath siblings could very also get too reckless. They feel it would be easy to do during one of their nights out.

They feel they could easily find themselves in the same hot water as Nathan. What are your thoughts on Ethan Plath bailing Olivia’s brother Nathan out of jail?

Fans add they hope that the Plath siblings remain responsible. They do not want to see them get too wild and land in legal trouble of their own. Do you think this DUI associated with Ethan Plath’s in-laws is a sign of trouble?
