90 Day Fiance: Angela Deem Daughter Scottie Faces 20 Years in Prison – Sodomy, Child Molestation & Statutory Rape Indictment Details

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days Angela Deem is in the news, this time tied to Scottie Deem, her daughter, who was recently arrested for multiple charges alleging she had sex with a minor. Scottie is Angela Deem’s daughter whom she dragged onto the Maury Povich show twice accusing her of cheating on her boyfriend and having a child with another man. Both times, Scottie was vindicated by Maury, but this time, it looks like she’ll have to answer to the court and might not be so lucky.

90 Day Fiance – Angela Deem’s Daughter Indicted on 13 Counts

Scottie Deem has bragged about appearances on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days on her Facebook page. She even trolled her mother (see below) on social media after Soap Dirt was the first to report the news of Angela Deem’s DUI arrest. However, Angela Deem’s arrest pales in comparison to the felony charges her daughter faces.

Details from the grand jury indictment provided in an open records request sent to Soap Dirt say these events occurred between July 1, 2017, and August 31, 2017. The address listed where the events took place is just a few doors down from Angela Deem’s stated address in Hazlehurst, Georgia. Scottie Deem was indicted by a grand jury in Jeff Davis County and now faces arraignment.

Twisted Charges Against 90 Day Fiance Co-Star Scottie Deem

Scottie Deem has appeared on numerous episodes of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days alongside her mother and via Skype while her mother was in Nigeria shooting scenes for the TLC show. Back home in Georgia, Scottie was dealing with serious legal charges involving multiple felonies. She was accused of sex with a male aged 15 or younger.

The grand jury indicted Scottie Deem on all charges including:

  • 1 count of aggravated child molestation
  • 1 count of statutory rape
  • 11 counts of child molestation

The details of the grand jury report are startling but to summarize without being too graphic since the charges involve a minor, Scottie was charged with touching his genitals, having him touch hers, performing oral sex on the young man, and having full sexual intercourse with him.

Some of the child molestation charges relate to her touching the victim’s genitals in the presence of five minor children. The indictment said Scottie Deem “did commit an indecent act in the presence of” five children. At least one of the children was not Scottie’s biological child and was a niece.

Below is a photo of Scottie and her boyfriend she was seeing at the time she allegedly hooked up with the underaged guy, as these charges reveal.

Breaking Down the Charges Against Angela Deem’s Daughter

In Georgia, sodomy laws can apply to oral sex, which is not what many think when they hear that word. In this case, the sodomy charges are oral. Local authorities charged Angela Deem’s daughter under three sections of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated.

Section OCGA 16-6-4(c) – Aggravated Child Molestation

Georgia law classifies a violation as “aggravated child molestation when such person commits an offense of child molestation which act physically injures the child or involves an act of sodomy.”

Section OCGA 16-6-3 – Statutory Rape

Georgia law classifies violations under this section as “the offense of statutory rape when he or she engages in sexual intercourse with any person under the age of 16 years.”

Section OCGA 16-6-4(a) – Child Molestation

Georgia law says child molestation involves “any immoral or indecent act to or in the presence of or with any child under the age of 16 years with the intent to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of either the child or the person” or does so “by means of an electronic device.”

Scottie Deem Investigation and Arrest Timeline

Hazlehurst, Georgia investigating officer David Moore responded to a complaint from the young man’s grandmother. The September 25, 2017 complaint launched an investigation and then a warrant. Scottie Deem’s initial arrest was late September 2017. Her arrest report reveals she didn’t graduate high school and only completed eleventh grade.

Deem had a bond hearing in early October 2017. After posting $38,700, she was out on bond. After her indictment this week, Jeff Davis County issued a criminal felony warrant. With the indictment, the court required an additional $18,000 bond. She will now face arraignment, trial, and, if convicted, sentencing. What could her sentence be?

Scottie Deem Faces 5-20 Years (or More) in Prison Says Georgia Lawyer

Georgia law says “a first offense of child molestation shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than five nor more than 20 years”. But often what the law says and how it’s carried out differ so Soap Dirt sought the opinion of an expert.

An experienced Georgia criminal defense lawyer who asked not be named spoke to Soap Dirt about possible sentencing. He has handled similar cases and was told the litany of charges in the indictment then told us this:

“There are so many factors involved in sentencing. Pleading guilty makes a difference. I get cases like this thrown out left and right. As far as the sentencing, the kid would have a say. They’d ask the guy if he loved her, if he wants her in jail. If the case is driven by a parent complaint, it’s easier to defend”.

The lawyer added, “It’s like a case of a teacher sleeping with a student. At the end of the day, she’s worthy of getting like three to five years and maybe like 20 years probation. Probably a long term of probation. She’ll have to register as a sex offender and take classes.”

However, the lawyer also said that because it’s South Georgia where they tend to sentence with a heavier hand than up in Atlanta, “it might be the ‘case of the century’.” He said, “They could light her up – give her 20 for that. I don’t think she’s deserving of more than five.”

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days Scottie Deem TLC

Did TLC and 90 Day Fiance Know About These Felony Charges?

It also begs the question of whether TLC vetted Scottie Deem before allowing her onto the show. When TLC filmed Angela’s 90 Day Fiance segments, Scottie Deem’s arrest was in the public record.

Perhaps they didn’t run a background check on her – or the charges didn’t appear for some reason. Soap Dirt reached out multiple times today to TLC for comment. They never responded. Scottie Deem is promoting an appearance on this Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days (see her post above).

TLC and production company Sharp Entertainment are silent on social media about this. Neither responded to Soap Dirt’s request for comment.

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days Scottie Deem - Bill Cosby

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days – Scottie Deem Defends Bill Cosby

Another disturbing element in this story is from Scottie Deem’s Facebook posts. Twice in recent days, she defended convicted sexual predator Bill Cosby. Given the 13 counts of sexual misconduct Scottie was indicted on by a Georgia grand jury, it’s troubling she’d be on social media defending a man convicted and recently jailed for sexual assault. Does this mean Scottie also sees herself as unjustly accused, as Cosby has stated he is? Does she feel a kinship with the disgraced comic?

There is lots more to come on this explosive family and their ongoing bouts with the law.
