Tammy’s news upset a lot of 1000-lb Sisters viewers. Some people wondered if she got sick from carbon dioxide because of the space heater in her home. However, other fans had a different idea. One person said it’s possible for Tammy to get sick due to the “excessive weight” on her lungs.

This medical condition is called obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS). In patients who have OHS, their lungs aren’t able to blow out all of the carbon dioxide in their lungs.

Over time, this leads to a buildup of CO2 in the person’s bloodstream. And if not treated, it can cause serious health problems.

Hopefully, Tammy’s on her way to a full recovery and will leave the medical treatment soon.
