Right now on their TLC show, Amy Slaton‘s showing off her new home to Tammy Slaton. But Chris Combs is already worried that she won’t be able to handle her sister moving away from her. After Tammy left on 1000-Lb Sisters, family members discussed whether to leave her to be a “ward of the state”.

At the time of filming, Amy said she got help taking care of Tammy a couple of times a week from Nurse Tisa. But she said she needed help from family too because it’s “extremely hard” trying to take care of her alone. Amanda Halterman said she wouldn’t be at Tammy’s “beck and call”. Misty Slaton was unsympathetic.

She said they could “put her a** in a state home” and let them take care of Tammy. Despite their earlier bitter fight, Amanda said “no” to that on 1000-Lb Sisters. The siblings debated who would take her next since each has had a turn with her. Amy asked who’s next after me. And Chris chimed in with “ward of the state”. Is this when she began to go off the deep end?

And it was Tammy herself who revealed multiple stays at medical facilities. When you look at these 1000-Lb Sisters scenes, it fills in some backstory on what went wrong.

As the family heads back from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Amy says she has to tell Tammy she’s moving out. The plan is to pack and go in a couple of months. She says the last time her sister was alone, she wound up with pneumonia and on life support. Since she’s in the other half of the duplex, moving 30 minutes away is a huge change.
