Young and the Restless gears up to resume filming, and we’ve got an update. Already we reported the cast and crew got COVID tests, and it would be early July. Now, we’ve got a firmer date on resuming production at the CBS soap.
Young and the Restless Used B&B as a Model & Lesson?
Y&R’s sister soap, Bold and the Beautiful, was back to work, then shut down, and now back again. They had issues first with safety procedures and then false COVID positives. It turns out the saliva tests they used weren’t as accurate as the invasive q-tip down the nose and into the throat method.
Now, B&B changed testing facilities and got back to work Wednesday, June 24. Since they film right down the hall from each other, we’ll assume Young and the Restless producers closely watch how B&B’s struggled to resume filming. They may be changing things at Y&R based on the info.
Already, we know from an inside source at CBS daytime that Young and the Restless notified actors of an early-ish July start. Then, they began ordering principal cast to get their COVID tests. And we revealed which three actors would feature in first scenes as they resume filming.
Y&R Back to Work Within 2 Weeks – New Date Revealed
CBS daytime sent Young and the Restless actors notice that they hope to resume filming Monday, July 6, 2020. As we reported last week, it would likely be that week owing to the July 4th holiday. The initial leak said a July start, early as possible, but starting before the holiday made no sense.
As a reminder, our Young and the Restless leaker told us Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) had scenes with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). So far, none of the actors have released photos from set – likely because they’ve yet to open the doors.
We expect to see activity at the Young and the Restless studio next week for them to get fittings. And they’ll need to run actors through how they’ll social distance as they return to set. We’ll share updates on that as they leak out. But, the time is ticking down for Y&R’s big comeback.
How Many More Reruns Until New Young and the Restless Episodes Air?
If Y&R hits its goal of July 6, then it would be roughly mid-August before there are new episodes on the air. However, we also expect that restarting production might not be continual. They may do stops and starts at Young and the Restless, as B&B did until they perfect the new normal.
It’s a light at the end of the tunnel for Young and the Restless fans, cast, and crew. And bear in mind, the sixth of July is what they’re shooting for, and it may not happen. However, they’re working hard to film new episodes, and everyone’s excited to see it happen.
We’ll offer updates on Young and the Restless production restarting as we get word from our source at CBS daytime. If Y&R gets back to work soon, they’ll be the second US television series to bounce back from the coronavirus pandemic. But don’t expect love scenes just yet…
