Victor Cassadine’s Sketchy History on ‘General Hospital’

Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) is a legend on General Hospital. Victor has been keeping the city of Port Charles on its toes for decades.

And the legacy villain still has plenty up his sleeve on GH. Now, take a look back into Vic’s evil history and the chaos he and his psycho family caused over the years on the ABC sudser.

The Crazy Cassadines on General Hospital

Victor Cassadine’s family were Russian royals forced to flee to Greece in 1917, where they built an empire. Victor’s father was Ivan Cassadine, who was never shown on-screen. And Vic’s mother was never mentioned much.

Victor had three siblings — the infamous and evil Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos). And Tony Cassadine (Andre Landzaat). Also, there’s a sister, Sophia Cassadine. But the 33-year old wasn’t portrayed. All of the Cassadines are lethal. Mikkos was violent and unfaithful.

He cheated on Helena with Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) mother, Kristin Bergman (Melanie Minichino, in flashback). The Cassadines are famous for being evil, especially to their own family. And Vic is certainly living up to his name.

The Legacy of Victor Cassadine

Mega-villain Victor Cassadine first came onto the GH scene back in 1981 played by Thaao Penghlis. Vic and his evil brothers, Mikkos and Tony, planned to take over the world.

General Hospital viewers may recall the war between the Cassadines and the Spencer family. And it started with the Ice Princess diamond.

Vic and his brothers wanted to use the power of the diamond to build a machine that could control the weather.

Victor was able to create the machine. However, it was destroyed by Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and his best friend, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). Then, Vic Cassadine was shipped off to prison, where he supposedly died.

Thirty-three years later, Thaao Penghlis reprised the role, and schemer Vic returned to the land of the living. Victor was out of prison, and was the new director of the World Security Bureau (WSB).

Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) was a criminal and in prison back then. But Victor got her out, and she became Chief of Staff at General Hospital.

In return, Liesl told Vic where to find Helena and her evil offspring, Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly).

Helena and crazy Stavros were in a cryogenic state. So, Victor Cassadine forced Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) to revive them.

Vic also let Robin revive Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) in exchange. But that was only the start of Victor’s reign of terror… According to official GH Twitter, he’s not someone to underestimate.

Victor’s Many Crimes on GH

The first time Victor Cassadine came back from the dead, he threatened to kill Robin and her family. Plus, he caused the accident that ran Robin’s husband, Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson), off the road killing his baby boy.

Also, he and psycho Levi Dunkelman (Zachary Garred) abducted Jason. Then, Vic and crazy Levi kidnapped Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and her best friend Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan).

And they held Maxie and Lulu hostage at Crichton Clark Clinic. Along with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and the late Nathan West (Ryan Paevey). And that led to the paternity saga with his lover Liesl and her son Nathan on General Hospital.

Vic’s Second Death on ABC

When Victor Cassadine found out his former lover Liesl was Nathan’s mother, he wanted a DNA test. So, he thought Nathan was his son — and that’s precisely what Liesl wanted him to think. Dr. O admitted that Nathan was Vic’s son.

However, Vic didn’t believe her and did the paternity test anyway, recall General Hospital recaps. As we know now, Vic was not Nathan’s father after all — Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) was.

But Liesl needed to convince the world that Victor was Nathan’s father to protect Nathan from Faison.

So, Liesl shot Vic in the chest. Then the Crichton Clark Clinic blew up. And Vic was dead — yet again. But, of course, fans now know that Victor did not die. He’s alive and kicking — and scheming. So, now, Vic is back on GH and still a baddie…

The Villain’s Resurrection on General Hospital

Recently, Charles Shaughnessy brought Vic back to life on GH. And he’s an incredible recast. Many viewers may recognize Charles from his time as super-spy Shane Donovan on Days of our Lives. And also, as Maxwell Sheffield on The Nanny.

Charles is showing off his skills as the devious Victor. It’s clear that Vic is still ruthless. Now, viewers know that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is Vic’s son. And, in true Cassadine fashion, Vic has kidnapped Val not once but twice.

Plus, he’s behind the disappearance of Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig). And also, the death of Hayden’s mother, Naomi Dreyfus (Gigi Birmingham). Also, he’s in cahoots with awful Peter August (Wes Ramsey).

Plus, he’s to blame for holding Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Further, Vic put a hit out on Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) and her lawyer brother. The legacy villain is still lethal, and there’s a lot we don’t know about his plan.

Clearly, he’s capable of anything. So, keep watching GH to see what Victor Cassadine’s up to now. Undoubtedly, the villain is full of surprises on the ABC daytime drama.
