‘This Is Us’: It’s Time for Rebecca Pearson and Miguel Rivas’ Story
After six seasons, This Is Us has never shown us just how Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) and Miguel Rivas (John Huertas) got together. Now that it is down to the final few episodes, we will finally find out just how this couple came to be.
This Is Us: Fans Don’t Really Know Miguel Rivas
Miguel was Jack Pearson’s (Milo Ventimiglia) best friend. He married Jack’s widow, Rebecca Pearson. Miguel was married once before and has two children. That is pretty much all the info until now.
Rebecca’s second husband has taken a lot of heat from the “Big Three” over the years. Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley), Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown), and Kate (Chrissy Metz) Pearson never seemed to fully warm up to their stepfather.
Kevin has always been the most distant, even angry at times. Kate seems indifferent. Randall was the only one who has gotten semi-close to his stepdad in recent years.
Fans know most of the characters on This Is Us pretty well. Viewers see their backstories and love these characters for them. The audience is privy to everything about everyone, from Jack and Rebecca to the doctor who delivered their babies.
But not Miguel. He and Rebecca obviously fell in love. But how? Why? What is their marriage like? It looks like viewers will finally find out this week.
Rebecca and Jack Were a Real Love Story
Fans fell in love with This Is Us from the very first episode. The story of the Pearson family captivated viewers. Each of the “Big Three” have taken the audience their journeys.
But it started with the love story of their parents. The girl who fell in love with the guy her father didn’t think was good enough. This couple was always relatable.

They had triplets but, when one of the babies died, they adopted a newborn who was left at a fire station. Fans saw this family through good times and bad. A regular family with regular problems. But the love that Jack and Rebecca had for each other was epic.
Fans knew from flash forwards that Jack would die but, when that episode of This Is Us finally played, it was heartbreaking. The Pearsons moved forward with their lives, but they never showed how Rebecca married Jack’s best friend.
This Is Us Finally Tells Miguel and Rebecca’s Journey
Now that Rebecca suffers from Alzheimer’s, Miguel is taking care of her. He is very good to his wife. This Is Us gave us a small window into the Miguel and Rebecca story in the final season.
They became close friends after Jack’s death. It seemed as if Miguel had stronger feelings for Mrs. Pearson but didn’t tell her.

When it came time to date, they both met other people and proceeded to both get jealous. Last viewers saw was when Miguel Rivas left town.
On tonight’s episode of This Is Us, fans will hopefully see what Miguel’s family like was like before his second marriage and why his relationship with his own children is fractured.
Throughout the series, Miguel has been the “second husband”, the guy Rebecca ended up with, that never quite live up to Jack Pearson, the love of her life. But he’s become more likable as the series goes on and fans have come around.
The Miguel episode will answer many questions and we will see him from early years in Puerto Rico, to his friendship with Jack, to his relationship with Rebecca and the kids.
