Tammy Patton reveals that the decision to change her life was easy and working towards her goal continues to be a struggle. However, the My 600-Lb Life’s Tammy claims that she knew she had no other choice.
At age 41, she grew tired of relying on her family members for assistance. So, when she first entered Dr. Younan Nowzaradan’s (aka Dr. Now) office, Patton says that it was a frightening wake-up call.
Patton states that Dr. Now gave her the horrific news that her BMI of nearly 100 gave her a life expectancy of about nine years. Then, she says that she began thinking about her grandchildren.
And how she wanted to be around for all the significant milestones of their lives. So, the My 600-Lb Life star Tammy says she decided at that moment that she was going to commit herself to live a healthier life.
Dr. Now Gave Her the Confidence She Needed
Now Tammy Patton reveals she is proud of all of her My 600-Lb Life success. But she wants to share it with as many people as possible. She hopes that hearing about her struggles and triumphs will encourage others to stick to their weight loss plans.
Patton adds that Dr. Nowzaradan sat her down and gave it to her straight. He told her that there was no excuse for being 400 pounds overweight and she revealed agreeing with every word he said to her.
Once Dr. Now and Patton agreed, they were on the same page. Next, Tammy adds the doctor made a suggestion. He told Patton that weight loss surgery is what she needed to get healthier in the long run.
He continued explaining that her BMI of 100 at her height of 5’5″ is very dangerous for her. Since beginning her weight loss journey, Tammy reveals that she has lost 150 pounds, making her eligible for bariatric surgery approval.

Tammy Patton now reveals that as of March 2022, she is now three weeks post-op. She shares that her pledge to her family was her ultimate goal. She also wants others to know how happy and blessed she feels now that she had her surgery.
Because to be a My-600-Lb Life success story is a dream come true for Tammy. She said she can now visit parks and restaurants with her family these days.
