Virginia Coombs of MAFS said she didn’t get a prince charming, but that didn’t mean she didn’t get a happy ending. Virginia is the one that kept swearing she and Erik Lake were still together. Fans said they did a bad job of convincing everyone their relationship was still going.
Married at First Sight celebrity Virginia moved out of Erik’s apartment, and someone recognized her and spilled the tea. Once everyone was on the lookout, it was easy to see some flaws in their story. Even so, she kept saying they were still together.
Soap Dirt even investigated and found the court documents for their divorce within an hour of their filing. Yet, Virginia kept saying she and Erik were still a couple.
It wasn’t until recently that she admitted they split and their divorce would play out on Couples Cam. Fans think they hid their divorce because of an NDA, so people would watch them on the new episodes of the show.

Erik Lake Couldn’t Live His Wife’s Lifestyle
Married at First Sight hubby Erik Lake saw problems with his relationship with Virginia Coombs early on. Virginia got pretty tipsy at their wedding, and Erik’s family is on the conservative side of things. She also had bright purple eye shadow on that most people thought looked trashy.
One night, Erik Lake decided to have a little fun with his wife. In one scene, he was obviously feeling the drinks he had with his Married at First Sight sweetheart. He tried to talk to her seriously, but she wasn’t having it.
Erik Lake said, “I can’t drink like this because I have a very serious job.” Being a pilot with a drinking problem would definitely cause issues, and he loves what he does. Virginia Coombs didn’t think she should change her lifestyle because of something he couldn’t do.
Married at First Sight: Virginia & Erik Fated for Unhappiness
Viewers of Married at First Sight said the only thing Virginia and her man Erik had going for them was their physical attraction. Other than that attraction, they didn’t have anything in common. Erik Lake didn’t want her hanging out and drinking with her friends, and Virginia Coombs didn’t understand his concern.
Fans noticed early on that Erik thought most of the things Virginia did were wrong. And Virginia Coombs thought Erik Lake should be more involved in social issues. When they needed to compromise on things – it wasn’t happening.

Erik Lake’s divorce from Virginia Coombs is final now, and they are through with each other. This is Erik’s second marriage and fans wonder how his conservative family feels about that. His mother came on the reunion show of Married at First Sight and seemed hopeful for the couple.
