June Shannon is now a married woman. The Mama June: Road to Redemption star confirmed that she and Justin Stroud exchanged vows on March 23 in a courthouse ceremony.
Some of Shannon’s fans feel she is rushing things. However, she does not. On a social media post confirming her recent wedding, the newly married couple agreed, “When you know, you know.”
The star’s secret marriage did not come as a big surprise to June’s fans. They say that her social media was full of clues that she is head-over-heels for Stroud.
However, what fans say they did not see coming is the Mama June: Road to Redemption star giving up motherhood for marriage.
Shannon’s followers are furious that she gave up custody of her youngest daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, to her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird.
WEtv Viewers Fear June Is Headed for A Relapse
Reality television fans are aware that Shannon’s ability to parent Alana has come into question more than once over the past few years.
However, Mama June: Road to Redemption fans felt that since Shannon says she is now living a sober lifestyle for more than two years, many hoped things would be different.
Lauryn began taking over responsibility for Alana in 2019. During that time, Shannon and then-boyfriend Geno Doak began spiraling out of control.

During the custody hearing, Shannon’s past issues with drug addiction played a big part in the judge’s decision. In April, the judge wrote the decision stating, “It is in the child’s best interest that the plaintiff (Efird) is awarded sole custody.”
The decision gives Lauryn all the decision-making authority over her 16-year-old sister Alana. However, Mama Shannon is permitted to call her youngest daughter every day.
The Mama June: Road to Redemption star may not have any more say over Alana Thompson’s life. But she is responsible for paying $800 per month to Lauryn to contribute financially to her daughter’s care.
Is Shannon’s Marriage Putting Relationships with Her Daughters in Jeopardy?
Shannon will be writing those $800 checks every month until Honey Boo Boo turns 18 in August of 2023. Fans feel that the reality star did not put up much of a fight to keep custody of her youngest child.
The Mama June: Road to Redemption fans believe that Shannon is not into being a full-time mother. Instead, some fans feel she chose her new husband, Justin Stroud, over her children.
Some also believe this could be a red flag with Shannon’s sobriety. They know of her past drug problems and Justin Stroud’s troubled past. However, they feel that she is too busy being with Justin, she is pushing everything and everyone in her life further away.
