Mama June Shannon Shares Cancer Update on Anna Cardwell
Family Crisis star, Mama June Shannon recently shared an update on her daughter Anna Cardwell‘s cancer battle. In March Anna, June’s eldest daughter, confirmed that she was diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma.
Now in her latest interview, the WEtv reality celeb speaks out publicly about her daughter’s health issues for the first time.

Mama June Shannon says it’s been a difficult journey so far. She reports that Anna recently finished her second chemotherapy round, and will soon begin her third.
Her mother sadly admits that the second round of treatment was “really rough” on Anna. She says Chickadee has lost all of her hair due to the chemo treatments.
Anna Cardwell also keeps her fans up to date on Instagram. She admits to her followers that the hair loss has been difficult, and the chemo makes her nauseous. It makes her sleep a lot, and some days she has difficulty eating.
Mama June Shannon explains that Anna’s cancer is rare. She adds that stage four adrenal carcinoma is very aggressive. “It’s in her lung, liver, kidney, and her spleen all on the left side of her body.”
The Shannon Family Pulls Together To Support Anna
When Mama June Shannon’s daughter Anna (Chickadee) Cardwell confirmed her stage four cancer diagnosis in March, they tried their best to remain supportive, upbeat, and positive.
Her mom, and sisters, Lauryn (Pumpkin) Shannon Efrid, Jessica (Chubbs) Shannon, and Alana (Honey Boo Boo) Thompson rallied around her in her time of need.
The Mama June: Family Crisis star says she gets many questions regarding Anna Cardwell’s health status and prognosis. She says she is bluntly honest with people when they ask.
June did answer some hard questions. She told fans that they don’t know what the life expectancy is for someone with this cancer. She also said that the type of cancer Anna has is very rare. And that only “about one in one million people get it.”
She went on to give her opinion on the treatment for her daughter so far. June Shannon said, “There are very few doctors that treat it. And the couple of doctors here in the United States that treat it – I feel like – I’m not trying to be mean – are experimental doctors.”
This according to her mom, is the reason Anna Cardwell is going through such aggressive treatment. However, if it doesn’t work, she adds, then they head back to the drawing board. But she doesn’t know what the next step for Anna will be.
Mama June: Family Crisis – June Prepares Everyone For Possible Grim Outcome
The Mama June: Family Crisis siblings have all pitched in to help through this difficult time. Shannon admits they have had many hard conversations in light of her diagnosis. “We know what could happen, and her children know that.”
It is very sad to think about according to her mom, because her two daughters, Kaitlyn Cardwell and Kylee Cardwell are only ten and seven years old.
Ultimately, at this time, it has been a whirlwind for everyone. She says everyone wants to be there for her. Plus they make sure the kids are doing okay, and have what they need.
When she was asked how she was handling everything The WEtv celebrity said, “There are days when I don’t know whether to scream or get mad. But some days you have to put on that happy face and say Hey, how’ya doing?”
She has a long and challenging road ahead of her and appreciates all the support the fans show her. For now, it is all day to day.
