Courtney was an officer in the prison where Josh spent the last 11 years. However, she found some writings of his and became intrigued with him. She and Josh began a forbidden relationship.
As a Jail Lieutenant, Courtney searched cells and found where Josh wrote he felt abandoned and alone. The sentiments struck a chord with her, and the two began seeing each other. If not, Courtney joked, she’d go into a lab and mix up some chemistry.

Josh seemed to take it in stride, asking if she was his little pickle? Courtney said she used to be a cool cucumber, and now she’s a big dill. She wasn’t allowed to enter the prison grounds to pick him up herself, so she waited for him in disguise while a friend of hers picked Josh up.
